Re: Quantro info
Picture I can do. Anything specific you want to see? The board part number is TLD9920. The schematic should be around here, but it wasn't in the service binder - just the UHF and 800 modules. You know how it goes, somebody takes the page out of the binder and forgets to put it back. (and that somebo...

Re: VHF Quantro PA fail problems
I'm pretty sure I have spare PA's for Quantro VHF repeaters, but I would need a couple days to look. I'm also quite sure I have the schematics. Took forever to find that specific service manual. I needed the schematic for the power supply - which is also a unique beast. Looks like the MSF5000 supply...

Re: VHF Quantro PA fail problems
Hi, "Driver overdrive alarm" would suggest to me that you need to do a PA alignment. It's fairly simple to do and outlined in the RSS manual. If you have the circulator and low pass filter in your unit, they need to be bypassed, which is also covered in the instructions. Also make sure the...

Re: CLN6960 w/intellirepeater fw external PTT
Hi,
Thanks for the response. As I mentioned, we swapped the SIMM with NIR firmware and confirmed it worked. This is a large commercial system and a firmware change would be impractical. It seems Motorola has a bug or just left that part of the code out of 6809 IR code.

CLN6960 w/intellirepeater fw external PTT
Hi, As mentioned, I have a Quantar with a CLN6960 SCM running Intellirepeater FW 20.14.520 and I'm trying to get external PTT to work running as a 6809 controller. I have tried from the MRTI interface and the 50pin telco, but no glory. If I swap the controller with a CLN6961 (or any other convention...

Wow, that's weird - I got this spam message today in my mailbox. Wonder if it's related? Hello, I am a Nigerian Princess, all of my family's fortune is tied up in Motorola radios for sale on eBay. If you could just help bid the value of my items up, my families good name and fortune could be restore...

Re: Current draw, Full Quantro
Is this a 350W VHF Quantro with two amps? The Motorola manual lists the requirements of: "an AC source capable of supplying a maximum of 1550 Watts. For a nominal 110V ac input, the ac source must supply 16 amperes and should be protected by a circuit breaker rated at 20 amperes." As I rec...

Re: Quantar repeater showing "PA FAIL"
If the repeater is accessible and you can connect a computer to it, go into the service menu and look at the error log. It will usually give more (a little) detail about why you're getting a fail light. For instance, if the problem is high SWR - the error message will say that. I once had a failing ...

Re: The evils??? of LMR cable
I believe a lot of the comments come from a paper written by Motorola regarding their recommendations about cable and connectors. That paper related mostly to iDEN and what Motorola did to resolve IM issues at sites. It does have some interesting reading and seems to based more on real world experie...

Re: UHF Quantro 40W to 110W
Can't say I know much about the 40W or 110W versions, but I own a 225W UHF Quantro. I'm always looking for spare PA's at hamfests and I know that there are two versions of the 110W PA. There is a 110W Driver PA Module that is part number TTE1732A (the one I'm always looking for) and then there is th...

Re: Triggering TRBO Panic externally
According to the service manual, it's generally programmed via CPS on Prgm_In_4 which translates to pin 23 on the rear connector. Excerpt: 23 Prgm_In_4 (Emergency) Programmable Input with dedicated function for Emergency Switch • Prgm_I_4 (Emergency): Dedicated input that is having the function of E...

Re: XTL mobile USB cable unable to find driver
Try looking in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Motorola\FudallyFiles In that folder you should find an application called DPInst.exe which should be the driver installer package. You should run that installer BEFORE you connect a radio/programming cable to the computer. If the cable was already connec...

Re: Windows 7 with Astro 25
I believe the way Windows Vista and 7 handle driver signature is configurable as a Group Policy object. Windows Vista by default is set to prompt the user to continue and it seems to me that I read in Windows 7 Release Candidate documentation that the new default would be to disallow the driver.

Re: Bootloader mode on an XTL5000 W4
Well, I looked in the XTL5000 detailed service manual and it says: "The radio is placed in a bootstrap mode whenever the programming cable is inserted into either the control-head microphone connector (P104) or the remote-mount interconnect board data connector (P506). This cable applies SW_B+ ...
