Re: Access and/or listen to a particular repeater - if both have same Freq & PL??
if you are only running analog, the quantars can decode 2 pls. You could keep all repeater listening to a common RX pl that the subscriber units would use and then a different unique PL that the base station would transmit that would only bring up the desired repeater.

MC2500 tone remote failure troubleshooting
I took a chance on 2 mc2500 units. One powers up and works great, the other just lights up and you can hear the relay pull in. After verifying the voltages were good, I swapped the bottom base with the working unit. The problem follows the top. The buttons don't light and nothing shows on the displa...

It doesn't detect. Just think of it prefixing any audio that comes out of the port with the wake up/function tone/guard tone of your choice. If I am using a tone remote I just let the audio fly across the network. I have never had an issue doing so. This is nice if you have a non tone remote that yo...

Re: remote radio via cisco routers..
I wanted to follow up on the 2801 router and lmr findings. I pulled one out and tested again. If you are using it purely for joining the e&m port to a multicast group without any e or m lead signalling, it works. However there are no lmr configs available such as lmr led or lmr e-lead or m-lead ...

Re: remote radio via cisco routers..
You can come up with a lot of mix-n-match stuff with putting a e&m port into a multicast group. The last I was testing was a remote gm300 with a tone adapter on it in group 1 that was also connected to another gm300 in group 1 with a tone adapter. Put a voice-class tone signal on the e&m por...

Maybe it was that trunk was available but the other lmr features were not. I will have to get one back online with a e&m card to verify. But I remember that when mixed in with the other 2611/2811 configs it didn't play well. 2811s are so easy to get a hold of so I didn't pay it much more attenti...

Re: remote radio via cisco routers..
Just wanted to drop a note back in for others that are following the thread. A cisco 2811 with a PVDM2 is pretty cheap and easy to find. You don't need a NM-HD-2VE for it. Stay away from the 2801 routers unless you are going to do 4 wire plar circuit and don't need other lmr features. I now have 5 r...

Re: remote radio via cisco routers..
If you don't use VAD, you will see more traffic generated as it just keeps the line 'OPEN' just like a dry pair would be. I don't/haven't had an issue with using VAD as it was hooked to a half-duplex radio anyway. You could just use VAD on the voice port instead of vad aggressive. When the aggressiv...

Here are the relevant parts.. This is a 2-wire tone control full duplex setup. You just need to replicate this on 2 different routers with different /30 ip subnets on the Vif1 interfaces and then the same network on the FastEthernet0/0 interface. You will either need to manually route the Vif1 ip bl...

I swapped out the SSCB and TTRC and it sill did it. I figured out that the 2nd RX only drawer was causing the issue. When I would disconnect the rj11 plug on it's TTRC board, it would stop the first tray from transmitting. I reprogrammed the 2nd tray and now it doesn't bother the first tray. Strange.
