APX4000 wont scan...
I finally got a new radio, an APX4000. This is my first ASTRO radio so please bear with me as I am not accustomed to the new CPS. I cannot get this thing to scan for the life of me. I can set up the scan list in the CPS but when I set a button or menu item to scan it error tones the button or the sc...

HT 23... I think???
I have one for the old timers here. While cleaning out the attic at the fire station I found an old /\/\ portable and charger. I think it is an HT 23. The lables on the back are worn and not readable. There was a battery in the radio so I plugged in the charger and dropped the radio in. In the morni...

But what about the PA in the 2 watt radio vs the PA in the 5 watt radio. It kinda seems too easy to make a better (???) radio out of a lesser rated radio. If it is that easy then why didnt people just buy the less expensive 2 watt radios (I am assuming the original prices were less) and do what I di...

Saber Qusetion for the Saber Gurus here
As some here may know I had a bunch of Sabers. I have sold many of them and am greatful for all that took them off my hands. I kept a few of them to play around. The Sabers that I have are the H34 models. Or a 2 watt radio. I created a H44 codeplug in the RSS and dumped it into the H34 radio. I prog...

Re: Two-way replacement for a Minitor II/IISV
Finally, not having to jump through hurdles to get RSS and cables so we can program them ourselves would be another nice plus. If size is not a problem then I would recomend the VHF antenna that does not require a ground plane. They typically wind up being about 40 inches or so. My Spectra dont hear so well
I just picked up a UHF pectra fairly cheap. The only problem is that it does not RX very well. It will TX and open repeaters 20 mi away but wont RX. It will RX a port on talk-around but I have to be fairly close. Any suggestions? Everything inside appears to be good and tight. No signs of any loose ...

GM300 question. May be stupid but I'll try.
My FD is looking to upgrade our radio system. We have GM300's in most of the trucks. The chief would like to have a repeater. Right now we share a channel with the light, water and highway depts. (See why we want to change.) Our local /\/\ vendor tells me that the GM300 will not do the 12.5 Khz spac...

Which Battery
I need new batteries for an HT1000 and an MTS2K.
Which one would be the better of the two? The NTN7341AR, 1400mah, NiCD or the WPNN4037A 2000mah NIMH.
Other than the mah and the price, what is the diffrence? Is the NiCD better?

I have an HT1000 that I droped. After that the audio from the speaker in the radio was diffrent. Kinda like it was coming from a tin can. Put the speaker mike on and it was fine. I figured that the speaker was maybe dislodged from the inside. Nope that was ok. I can deal with that as I use the speak...
