When I dispatched I would keep the TV at a reasonable volume. If I got busy I would just shut the thing off. I worked for a slow Police/Fire/EMS dispatch that would, at times, get very busy.

Actually now that you mention that I recall a day that I put a Saber on the meter and forgot to put a dummy load on. The radio put out 15 watts!!! With 15 reflected :-?

MTS2000 MPL

How do I get the MPL to work? I have the MPL list set up, each mode has the MPL enabled on the "More Options" screen, and the Middle side button is set to "MPL". Am I missing somthing?

If size is not a problem then I would recomend the VHF antenna that does not require a ground plane. They typically wind up being about 40 inches or so. I do not recall the part # off the top of my head. I have have very good luck with this antenna. These work well especally on fiber glass roofs... ...

I just picked up a UHF pectra fairly cheap. The only problem is that it does not RX very well. It will TX and open repeaters 20 mi away but wont RX. I thank all of you for your input. I am not thrilled about spending $100+ to upgrade/modify an old radio. I think we will keep the 25 Khz simplex frequency and maybe next year, if we get another grant, get the repeater and new radios for the trucks.

I worked for an ambulance company that used the GM300. Quite often the audio would go very quiet or out completley. I found that a sharp whack to the radio cleared this problem up. It may be a loose conection in the radio. When it heats up things expand and somthing may come loose.

Thank you all for your input. I will stick with the NiCD batterys. I have them now and get about 3-4 years with them. I just like the higher capicity of the NiMH but if they last half as long then its not worth it.

I need new batteries for an HT1000 and an MTS2K.

Which one would be the better of the two? The NTN7341AR, 1400mah, NiCD or the WPNN4037A 2000mah NIMH.

Other than the mah and the price, what is the diffrence? Is the NiCD better?

I have a Motorola cordelss phone. Probably the best cordelss I have ever had. Has a rechargable battery in the base for when the power goes out. I have had it for about 10 years. They stipped making them shortly after I got it.

I have V6.02 in my VHF Spectra and I programmed Zones without a problem. I had to change some of the buttons on the head to do zoneup and such. You should not have a problem at all.

What was said re the reciever always being on as opposed to the ht1000 makes sense as does the display.

I think I have seen here that it would cost me $200-$300 to send it in to ma /\/\ to be fixed. I only paid $350 for the radio. Can you recomend a cheaper alternative? There is a local /\/\ shop here but I do not trust them as they have screwed up things in the past.
