We have an astro spectra consolette that we would like to connect to a computer via the computers sound card Mic input. Does anyone know off the top of their head which pins I should use. I just don't want to use a powered port and blow my sound card.

http://www.powerproducts.com/ It seams as tho the price for the Li-Ion battery is fairly close to the price of the Motorola Branded battery. So if it was my choice I would probably buy the Motorola battery but o well.

I hate to bring up such an old form but I am sure this topic is searched often. For a "true" serial port you need the card, whether express or PCIMCA to be PCI-e based (OXFORD OXPCIe952) not USB based solution (Prolific PL2303 chip).

With the high frequency of the 800mhz radios, do you find a significant performance drop when using a stubby antenna on the radio? Also from experience has anyone found a significant performance increase when using the "public safety" speaker microphone.

I to will be building a USB programing cable for the XPR portable. I think it will be really easy as the cable I payed 85 dollars for that programs my XPR 4550 is extremely strait forward. I will try and post a tutorial in about 4 weeks.

I have two LIN4's on my truck. If you have not purchased them yet then, if you can afford it go with the LINZ6s or LIN3s. They are much brighter I was disappointed with the light output and intensity of mine.

I have a 2.2 GHz MacBook Pro and programing via XP, Bootcamp works flawlessly. From my experience XP runs better on a mac then it does on a dell. From my experience I would say that you should not have a problem with the RS-232 card but I can't say for sure.
