GR300 RICK BOX replacement
I have a little UHF gr300 up and running. Right now it has a simple IDer/controller on it. I would like to add a more feature rich controller but would like to keep the same form factor. Is there any easy off the shelf RIC sized boxes I can get to put my own controller in? I would really hate to scr...

Lets also keep in mind that line-of-sight on the coastline and over the water is very uninhibited. There is no terrain or obstructions to get in the way. So if you put your 100 watt transmitter on a 6 or 10db gain antenna 180ft up in the air on the coast, it is going to go pretty far. True Line of ...

How can any handheld-handheld radio talk more than about 7 miles. A handheld held at 6ft high has about 3.5 miles before the horizon drops off. assuming no obstructions and another HT at 6ft could hear that singal 3.5 out, that gives you 7 miles max range. You would need to be about 100ft up to make...

Can the Pyramid SVR-200U Vehicular Repeater be programmed into the ham bands? The software will not directly allow it, but is there a codeplug or work around? Any option to program this into the ham bands?

First off. I am installing this on my personal truck. I am not able to drill holes in the vehicle so the typical nmo mounts that I have always used in the past are out of the question.

sglass, I did a similar install on by old blazer and tahoe. I see you mounted the 706 on the floor. Did you ever look at putting in on the overhead console? THe 706 head fits nicely on most older GM overhead consoles without rear heat. http://home.columbus.rr.com/garlei/images/radio%20from%20drivers...

First thing to remember is just because it loads up and you have a good SWR it may not be a good antenna. A 6m dipole on 80m radiate worth a darn. Now the 706 issues. A Good ball mount on the side of truck gives you a good platform for antennas. A metal CB whip tuned with a ah-4 tuner will give you ...
