Just looking over the book I got today from Mot. I think I got it. This is a "high stability oscillator option" C574 and not an "external reference option" C573 which requires an external 5 HMz reference signal.

No not dis-assembled. It's came as another section (drawer with mounting hardware) under the RF section intact. It was removed from service - control shelf, rf section (where the uniboard/voc's are located) and under that sits the HSO. http://208.145.96.111/manual/images/msf5000.jpg J500 on the inte...

Ahhh...thanks for the info! I am flying blind but am very interested in this. I called Mot to order the correct book for it but until later this week I have been learning on line as much as I can so thank you. Is its hook up simple? I see the power connect cable and a small cable with a rca type mal...

high stability oscillator option in MSF5000

Some CXB MSF5000 models have a high stability oscillator which plugs into a small module that is tucked up under the RF section and has 2 RCA jacks. It has 2 pins coming out of the top and comes up through the top of the casing about 1/8 inch which connects into the Uniboard. Can this extra unit be ...

CXB - CLB msf5000

I thought that. I believe you are taking about the board that is under the RF section of the CXB - where the VCO's are located. The differences between the two are great. On the CXB board are several more connectors that are not on the CLB board at all. This lends itself to another question - what a...

In my 25 yrs of involvement in LE I have never had ANY problems owning radio capable of RX or for that matter TX. I carry the radio in my back pocket not on my belt and don't walk around with it blasting away, I keep the volume at a low level and never use a speaker mic, that is what draws attentio...

MSF5000 / Wild Card / external controller Q&A

Hello I am looking for some help on a wild card I picked up for an MSF5000. I am trying to install a link-comm controller to the repeater. I know nothing about this device and have no documentation on this either. But I think I know what it is for and I have read the documentation on this site and s...

The cops are bad here.

I was driving down the road in Beverly Hills in my Porsche one sunny day just minding my own business playing some CD's when all of a sudden I was pulled over for - NOTHING! I had my MOT HT with me and it tuned on the local Ham repeater. The cop asked me what it was and I told him it was my HT for H...

What Service Monitor are you using?

What service monitor you are using and what do you like or dislike about it. What features do you like or wish you had. I see all kinds of used ones so I would like to know what the congregation thinks. Hopefully I will make a better educated decision as to which one I will spend my money on. Thanks...

MSF 5000 Elmer needed.

I am interested in learning more about this system. I am a very new to Motorola systems so I need Elmer on this. If you own one or you are pretty savvy with the setup and interfacing external controllers, link radios and such I would like to ask you a few questions off line. Any takers?
