Yes....cut and paste works. Its a little different with Trbo CPS. You open two codeplugs at the same time within one instance of CPS running. Most of the other CPS for other radios you had to open a second instance and drag and drop from one to the other.

Usually when there is separate CPS for mobiles and portables there is separate Lab software also. Though you most likely answered your own question through experimentation. If the software says it's for portables then it is what it is.

PTT tones
Is there any way to modify the PTT tones on the XPR5550 and 7550? I cannot find it if it's even an option so I ask. My CS750 and Hytera have this option to create custom tones and apply it to PTT.

Tested with another speaker and it works. Was trying to an older desktray with speaker from an mcs2000 which has 3 wires, a red a black and a brown. I suspect that you just want to enable MDC1200 on the certain channels in the radio. In CPS under MDC system you need to setup an MDC system to your needs then strap that system to the conventional personality using the signaling tab.

Get one of the SVA amplified speakers, remove the amp guts, and run it as a regular speaker. You'll notice a marked improvement in audio quality thanks to the metal casing and extra room inside. With some CDM1250's I've owned in the past connecting an external speaker does not disable the internal speaker. Perhaps some of the newer radios operate differently in this regard. Anyway it's pretty easy open the radio and disconnect to speaker if need be. I kinda liked those CDM internal speakers...

If I recall correctly, that method of creating a system key will only work properly for older trunking radios such as Maxtrac, STX & Spectra, which only concerned themselves with the last two digits of the system ID. I don't even think it'll work for MTX/MTS, Visar & MCS, let alone an Astro...

I notice my 30 watt 900MHz MCS2000 draws 2-3 amps more than my 50 watt 440 kenwood radio. I thought it was strange but it could be anything. I have no watt meter to verify power output or swr on 900MHz but signal reports are good.

I recently aquired one of these also. I adjusted the power from within cps. That worked for me. Also if you are using the radio out of its specified bands limits power could drop off some depending how far out of band you go. Question? How does one generate the hex values to search for from the decimal values or frequency in MHz? IE: AC3CC335 (represents 901987500)

The 900MHz radio is a similar smartzone flash with a few other option like 240 modes, nothing crazy but only used for conventional 900 stuff. You could always sell the CDM and get an MCS2000 model 2 or 3 which has more channels and is hackable out of band, unlike the CDM you are pretty much stuck with what you have.

It should scan 16 conventional channels if they are added to the scan list. If its talk groups on a trunked system you can only scan 10 of them.
