XTL5000 Ignition Sense Problem
I am having trouble with a Dual Control Head XTL5000 800Mhz W7 head setup. The radio will not power up with ignition sense. All wires are connected properly. In the RSS, it does not give me any other option besides "Tx Inhibit", "PTT Tx Inhibit", and "BLANK". I need it ...

Gentex Helicopter Helmet and XTS5000 Interface
Does anybody know of an interface that will allow you to use a Gentex Helicopter Helmet with a Motorola XTS5000? Ideally, I would like to have an interface that will connect into the aircrafts existing com system with an extra port for the Motorola Radio.

Folks, I am not asking for a software hack, or model number hack. I needed to know if the process for muting the rx audio upon PTT was an analog circuit, or a digital process. If it is an analog circuit, then it can be made to RX during TX. Before this comes up, I understand what will happen when RX...

One other thing
If this is such a problem, we should make a suggestion to the ARRL, SERA, or any other "HAM" organization to form shall we say "Collective Bargaining". Remember, there are constitutional rights that we all have.

And so it goes
I'm not doubting you guys have been wronged. And as I meant to say, the statutes and laws I referenced to are appropriate in SC. Every state is different to some degree. I don't agree with law enforcement harassing you or anybody else. I COMPLETELY understand what you mean about cops pretending to k...

LAWS & Humor
Ok, here goes.I don't know how it is in other states, but here in SOuth Carolina, this is the way it works. THere are statutes here in the state. They cover everything from criminal domestic violence to minor traffic violations. Most cities have ordinances beyond that but almost all of them recogniz...

RADIO ADDICTIONS ANNONYMOUS
Ok, I thought it would be neat to start a group for those of us who just can't seem to part with our radios. If you're like me, you see one you think would be cool to have; then, you may or may not use it. If you don't, it sits on the shelf, in a drawer, or the kitchen table and you think to yoursel...

As I read this column and see all the different opinions and views, it occurs to me several things; One, there is definately a problem with radio communications education. 9/11 was a horriffic day in the history of FDNY, NYPD, and the port authority as well as the rest of the world. As public servan...

VERTEX ROCKS
My friends and i are trying really hard to push VERTEX around here. ma "M" is pushing the statewide 800 system very hard with their usual ungodly pricing of subscriber units and montly subscription fees. Tax money could be better spent on other issues and needs. I have a VX-900 and that th...

15 miles?
I guess I take for granted the elevation and terrain differences here in upstate SC. I service numerous VHF and UHF sites here and have been using DX (Not the "WHO") Radio Systems RTF series repeaters. They literally blow the MTR2000 off the mountain. We are overcrowded with VHF sites and ...
