Re: MTX900 (Genesis) any thing new?
Thought I'd reply to this very old post since I just saw it. I'm the one who created the mod you mention. The reason there is no "new/more available way" to get these radios to work on the ham bands is because the microprocessor has internal ROM that will not work onamateur band frequencie...

Re: Spectra(s) as a repeater
Thanks, Ron. I ended up using a Maxtrac and a GTX in conbination for the repeater... been having way too much trouble getting error codes to clear on the Spectras I have, so I went an "easier" route. But thanks for keeping me in mind! Now if those MSF5000's would just come available.........

Re: MTX 900
any one do the mod to this radio on here I have done this mod on many MTX900's (of course I developed the mod - the mots6 !). Works great. These are powerful robust radios that really work quite well and they can be purchased really cheap. That said, an MTX9000 is a smaller more compact radio that ...

Re: Spectra(s) as a repeater
I have been using two Spectras as a repeater for about 8 years. I just recently took the system down due to lack of use and my getting tired of paying $100/month for rack space. Anyway, the Spectra make VERY nice receivers by removing the front-end cavity filters and either replacing them with a cer...

I built an internet link based on the speakeasy software about 6 years ago. I modified the software so it responded to PTT input via the printer port and put out a COR signal as well. This way I could connect the computer to my repeater controller as if it were just another radio. As far as security...

What is a good source for this 900 stuff? I really want to try to stay away from eBay... I hear that 25 MHz split is better for 900 MHz. Here in Michigan, the bandplan calls for 12 MHz split. I'm sure I could just use a 25 MHz split anyway, it's not like anyone in the state uses 33cm right now, any...

I posted this before but somehow it didn't appear. Anyhow, When I started on 900 in '95 I used a converted 900mhz Micor repeater and Spectra for the mobiles. Later we started using MTX900 HT's with my MOTS6 mod. We still use those today although I've replaced the Micor with a Spectra based repeater ...

I am sure your information will be appreciated. What took you so long to find Batlabs? - Just kidding - we KNOW why - spending all that time with your Canon D30! Does the WED in your call mean you shoot weddings? 73 Actually, I just tried the Spectra RSS mod the guys published here on BatLabs and i...

Re: Spectra to 902-928
Full lock TX/RX from 902-928? Can you detail your procedure... just painting the VCO I was having VCO unlock when I did a test unit. Bat I have developed a mod for the spectra's that allows full VCO lock across the band. As well you can get good sensitivity (around .22uv@12db SINAD) by modifying th...
