Great info! No one speakes of the flat disc type like the Larsen so I guess it isn't as good as the previously mentioned types. I should have said that a lot of the time I would be in a fringe area. Thanks, Bill.

Larsen Mirage or any low profile mobile antenna any good?

I would like to use a 110 watt Spectra as the transmitter for a repeater. I read through the previous discussions and am still trying to learn what to do. Does anyone know if the radio will have problems if turned down in output to say 60 watts? Any ideas on what higher output level might be ok assu...

It says that you can edit pl/dpl codes for a select channel. It looks like either TX or RX can be changed. You scroll through the list or enter the digits directly from the optional DTMF mike (which came incorrectly wired from the big M) It uses the same programming cable as the Maxtrac. Bill.

I just set up a CM300 uhf for the first time and it is interesting. It decodes MDC ids and allows you to change pls and dpls through the menu on the radio. Even at the lowest settings the audio tones are loud. It has a variable backlight setting which is nice. I think for a small speaker it sounds g...

We have only tried midian once and transcrypt once. The Midian was used on an HT1250 and a CDM1550 and we had nothing but problems. (rolling code encryption). Greetings. They istalled the plug in matching modules. They had to add some additional wiring though. It got messed up because it affected the audio quality on all channels even ones with no rolling
code turned on. We had trouble turning it on and off. It became useless. Bill

Hi. We had a local radio shop try to outfit our CDMs and HTs with Midian rolling code modules but they couldn't get them working well. The shop called Midian and they said that they would work better if we had the radios firmware upgraded. Any ideas on other encryption boards that might work better ...

GM300 drifting

Greetings. I have 2 GM300s that both have the same problem. After they warm up they get distorted and seem to drift off frequency on both transmit and receive. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any advice. Bill :o

I ordered 2 UHF CDM1550s today and was told that Motorola only uses CDM1550LS models now. Anyone have the same experience?

Yeah, that alert tone volume offset is a nice feature on the CDM1550 but not in the RSS for the Maxtrac. It's just odd that this particular Maxtracs tone is so much louder than all the others we have. Bill

I have 2 friends with the radios. They work well. I wanted one until I was advised that the thin battery available didn't last very long. With the regular battery the unit is rather fat for my liking. I like the feel of the HT1250 better. Bill

This gets more complicated. I know that I could use a folded dipole for an elliptical pattern. I am trying to not only max out on the highways but have some 'off the side' yagi rejection, in a specific direction, to cut down on interference to another repeater. Getting crazy?

You people are great!....... They will be vertical for the purpose of covering down 2 main highways. I will be using a phasing harness tuned for the frequency. What about 4 yagis (3 phasing harnesses)? That would be to cover 4 highways in 4 directions.

WOW. Thanks Alex. I was doing everything in the software, setting up the scan list. It forced channel one to be priority scan. I never tried it from the front of the radio. I will try that later. Thanks, Bill
