Thanks to all that responded. I learned a lot from the answers. I did finally get the unit to program!
Both the spectra and the mt1000 now work like a charm.
hope I can help out someone in the future.

RSS mod for Spectra ham
Hi all: First, I have a copy of the Spectra software. Second I have a question about a particular file, namely spectra1. On the BatBoard it indicates that this file needs to be "bit-banged" to allow entry of ham frequencies----since I am definitely "bit-banged" challenged, does a...

Software quandry
I attempted to purchase software from Motorola. One for the Spectra and one for the MT-1000. Now I realize that the only way to get software legally is from the source, Motorola. I received the following email from Motorola: *********************************************************** Case Update Not...

Re: Help with files
I guess I am not making myself clear---I have a cd with my Motorola files on it. For example, under Spectra I have the following files:d040204, f060015, l050300, l0600005, r010000, r030100, r040300, r050300 and r060005. On the disk there are zip files with these titles as well as subdirectories with...

VHF recommendations
Hi Folks: I would appreciate input on choosing a VHF (trunk mount) unit. I have been researching the Syntor X, the Spectra and the Astro Spectra in the 110watt version. Are there any other models I should be considering? I need something that will cover 2 meters up to about 158mhz or so---anything e...

Re: Programming a MT1000
Well, two of the three files I have go back to 89 and one to 93. The last file is dated 8/24/94---however, none of them work. I guess the computer I was trying to use was too fast. Does anyone have a computer that might work? It needs to be cheap :) I can seem to find any on EBAY that are reasonable...

motorola hand mic and icom radio
I have been reading about a mod for the ic-706 radios. It involves opening the touch tone mic and removing the blue wire---cover the ends---and attaching the black wire when the blue wire was connecting. I am very fond of the moto mics and would be interested in this mod if it would work and not ter...

Is there a way to measure the capacity of batteries for a MT-1000? What is the expected life of NiCads, NiMH, etc? Any information would be definately appreciated.

I need a RIB to program my Sytor X 9000 and MT-1000. I am considering a new one made by RadioStew and one by Erictronick (made in Quebec). Any one have any comments on these clones?

Is there any significant difference between the two trunk mounted, 100 watt models? I know the number of frequencies is different, but is the functioning of the radio as far as receiver sensitivity and functioning worth the difference in price?

I am seeking recommendations for a VHF handheld for both 2meter and high band use. I would like something that can be programmed without much difficulty or cost and something that is reasonable in price---all information is welcome.
