If I read things right it sounds as if somewhere along the lines the radio had been dropped on it's antenna one too many times. I have see this problem over 100 times and have found that contact at minitor V were dirty or this are damage due to fire or corrosion built-up check this contact clean with alcohol , dont use a sharp metal to clean contact they will be damage ( used tooth pick or old tooth brush).

Check your Mic the MC2000 requirer a specific mic to work properly in some model. Check your audio circuit this is located at top right side of radio main board, also check this location R0217 & R0218 this are audio input for ASFIC to U 0200-D7.

You have started in right location but no cigar,, there is fuse and is located near the + battery contact it a little white chip smt type, use a meter to check this fuse: also the on/off swch may be bad use meter to check this also...

Just reprogram radio with other similar code plug (clone radio) an wait until radio reset before removing your program cable... I will used a lower RSS or original version of software as much is possible.

I further check this issue there a message from MOL FSB10112 please check built code date 4010 thru 7250 you may have to replace J401 or resolder control head ground contact.

Hi I have this problem with are new EMS supervisor vehicles as you notice the AC will run all the way to rear seat and also the rear A/C control wires for the fan, the On star system ran the same location & A/C. We found a clean point at 10 inch from rear A frame location to center of vehicle.

I try to reprogram firmware and it work for short time, I will also check control head connection J401 look at pin 4 ground and pin 11 for on/off command if this look to wide or damage replace this 12 pin connector I have work in pass for me.

Please check ASFIC part or the radio here all tone generated or U0404 also check your radio setting it may over look squelch setting in CPS

See J0401 were the control head connect to it may have bad solder join on the pin, if this dont work check Q 0641 it may be open..

There is internal fuse is located near the A+, the A+ contact is inside one please, you cannot see if it open you must used multy meter an OHM check this. If this messure good please check TP 406 it must have 7.5 VDC if not replace swc.

Go to Motorola Online you can down load update kit number 51R07183A01 please use a win98 any other like system will corrupt your radio... just for firmware update I have this software if need it...

Trun radio off remove all power,, trun off power supply.. removed control head and top cover inspect J0401 it may have cold solder join at this location or replace this connector, if you need parts number I can get this to you...

This problem is not easy each model is given a firmware or default pre-program in EEPROM chip ( motorola control)... I recomend not swap control head it may damage the radio.

Try to reloade radio program if this don`t work try firmware, this problem is cause by rapid current drain during start-up or jump start other vehicle... protect your ingnition circuit with a diode or a fuse..

Please check you current draw with ammeter a good reading is 1.5 amps at 4.5 to 5.0 watts if this to low like .6 amps you do have a bad PA. Also check your battery contact & antenna jack screw.
