About the missing knowledge base...
Too bad the Knowledge Base is gone, I had the rebanding firmware releases for most radios in my Rebanding post. 'Tis not gone, merely hidden...though I don't remember the reason why. Something to do with the upgrade to phpBB v3. Anyways, here's a snippit from it: How do I find / gain access to this...

XTS3K; S-Record help: chng RF 400Mhz-->800Mhz
Hi, I am sure this has been covered here but I can't find it and I have not done it since 2004, so I am no longer sure. I have an XTS3K 400Mhz, I now want on 800Mhz. I recall to begin the swap I want to back up my current radio. I believe I need to back up the code plug first, then the s-record. And...

Interesting thing about some of those clear cases though is that they can void all type acceptance in some radios that use, in their normal housings, a metalic film on the inside, to stop leakage of signal from internal oscillators. Makes them fail standards for incidental radiation under part 15. ...

You are trying to use Astro25 CPS which is for XTS5000s, XTS2500s, SSE 5000s, XTS 1500s, MT 1500s and PR 1500s. It will not work. You need Astro CPS which will program Astro Sabers and XTS3000s. You will still use the same cable and RIB, you just need the right CPS. You are right. I have R04.01.04 ...
