The head itself is not, but the housings and cables are. (Using the newer kit w/ HKN4356 cable, I haven't tried the older style...)Batwings21 wrote:Second question, is an analog spectra/ spectra e a7 control head remote kit compatible with a w7 head, as far as the board, rear plastic etc.

Re: SmartRIB locks down serial bus
I've had the same problem- however I found if you leave the RIB off until you power the radio on, it works fine. After you program, the same thing will happen, just switch the RIB off (once programming is complete and the radio restarts) and the radio will power up normally.

Re: Need to find out some info on a 110W Motorola Spectra $100
The ID is actually T83GXA7HA7AK which is a 110watt securenet-capable enhanced control head (A7) radio, and judging by the serial# most likely RSSI and Zone capable.

Basically you have a D45MJA7JA6AK (that's a J, not a 3, commonly seen error) enhanced feature analog only (non-trunking) 800 maxtrac, most likely a 16-32ch model.

Re: MX7000 modification/upgrade question
MX7000s are VERY easy to wire, and you can always change out the wire for a longer one when needed. the most fun is making sure the wires are clear when you put the upper plates back on the channel! Just a little extra, you can swap out the new bars' slow rotator motors with the older bars' high spe...

Do yourself a favor and get Trend Micro PC cillin. I use it @ work, home, and on the machines I build. The site controls are great too if you need to enact any type of surfing controls, and @ $24 for 3 PC's, you can't go wrong! Unfortunately you have to add the modes first, it's easiest to F8 and use the default setup. Once you have all the channels in, then you can go into zones and separate them out.

Re: Help with Spectra A4 control head
I have an A4 control head that the volume control does not work. All other buttons function normally. I opened up the head and the capacitors look good. In the RSS I can't change the control head type, it is set for standard. Your problem isn't the head, it's the radio-wide options- it needs to be ...

I have a MTS2000 VHF (Euro version) bought from a member here that has been working flawlessly. I got a DES-XL module for it, installed it (haven't got it KVL'd yet), and now some of the radio messages come up in another language- RADIO LOCKED comes up as RADIO GESPERRT , and then some other error, ...
