The head itself is not, but the housings and cables are. (Using the newer kit w/ HKN4356 cable, I haven't tried the older style...)

Re: SmartRIB locks down serial bus

I've had the same problem- however I found if you leave the RIB off until you power the radio on, it works fine. After you program, the same thing will happen, just switch the RIB off (once programming is complete and the radio restarts) and the radio will power up normally.

The ID is actually T83GXA7HA7AK which is a 110watt securenet-capable enhanced control head (A7) radio, and judging by the serial# most likely RSSI and Zone capable.

Basically you have a D45MJA7JA6AK (that's a J, not a 3, commonly seen error) enhanced feature analog only (non-trunking) 800 maxtrac, most likely a 16-32ch model.

MX7000s are VERY easy to wire, and you can always change out the wire for a longer one when needed. the most fun is making sure the wires are clear when you put the upper plates back on the channel! Just a little extra, you can swap out the new bars' slow rotator motors with the older bars' high spe...

Unfortunately you have to add the modes first, it's easiest to F8 and use the default setup. Once you have all the channels in, then you can go into zones and separate them out.
