Re: ctcss squelch delay
thanks for the intersting replies particularly re the delay time for txs to actually tx. I am pretty sure that in this case, the delay is mostly due to ctcss decode though. the weird thing is, that some drivers seem to be able to respond reliably... this may be because they are able to second-guess ...

ctcss squelch delay
(relatively new to motorola gear)- when using some old GM300s and GM350s with CTCSS, there seems to be a very slight delay in the squelch opening on reception. I presume that this delay arises from the ctcss decoder's "thinking time". Is this normal? The setting is a rural low-budget taxi ...

GM360 Test 8 failed
Anybody know what is "Test 8"? (and why it might have failed!?) I have 2 GM360 radios, each with its own control head. One radio is programmed OK and works perfectly, with its own ctrl head. When I plug in the other control head, it displays "test 8 failed". Presumably this indic...

Re: CTCSS tone encoding with repeater
THanks VERY much for all the comments to clarify: the repeater is on a local hilltop. the dispatch radio is in the middle of the small town. the cab radios are a very disparate mixture of old PMR stuff. there's a few GM300s but there are Tait500s, icom V200s, maxons etc etc. As time goes by I'd like...

CTCSS tone encoding with repeater
I've been improving the VHF radio system for a taxi fleet in a remote rural area of scotland. I've installed an old repeater which has dramatically improved range & reliability. However, a big complaint is increased radio traffic (and too much "chat"). Pre-repeater, the taxi firm used ...

GM360 head interchangability
is it possible to swap around GM360 head units between radios and between VHF & UHF radios? I have a box of assorted V and U gm360 gear. I have one VHF unit up & running nicely and Im able to prog it fine from the ctrl head mic socket. but I seem to run into trouble when I change around othe...

Compact repeater / MC micro programming
As a long-time consumer of Batlabs I thought that I would just make a report on my most recent motorola project, successfully aided by Batlabs again! I have just successfully reprogrammed an old Compact repeater (Model MAL43EVM3206AT).... (!) I believe this particular repeater has MC-Micro radio mod...
