Syntor X9000
Hi, I'm using a couple of SX9000s. The radio and control heads have 8K EEProms. The radios also have been upgraded to 128 mode. In some radios I have programmed in 142 modes with no problem. The control heads also display all the modes. However, I can't scan more than 117 modes. Has anyone overcome ...

VHF TRUNKING SCANNER
It's my understanding that Montana, Wyoming and perhaps others will be going to VHF trunking with backwards compatibility to their legacy analog repeater systems (Can this be done? It's in their Specs) They also are looking for interoperability with Federal and Military systems. Sound like a large o...

VHF TRUNKING SCANNER
Does anyone know if the R.S. PRO-96 or Uniden BC-246T, BC-296D, BC-796D or other scanner will follow APCO-25 VHF digital and analog trunking? That's NARROWBAND 12.5 kHz VHF Trunking!

I did a search recently and also found the Comtelco, I was also looking for some gain. :( I found that Diamond does make a tri-bander with gain, but with a type N connector  (yuk) and it's not sold in the states anyway. I ended up using an elevated feed, trunk lip mount cellular antenna with a...

GTX 900 Channels
Some people travel around, so more than 10 can be an advantage. In SoCal we are using frequency re-use, i.e. common repeater channels & PL with Las Vegas and Phoenix to help out the folks with 10 channel radios. Having said that, I can put 10 conventional channels in a GTX, but it only wants to ...

MSF5000 Courtesy Tone?
Has anyone figured out how to incorporate courtesy tone in a 900 MHz MSF5000? I'm using the MSF5000 receiver and original SSCB control board. Older version TLN3137A board.

What's the trick to physically removing it? It looks like it's snapped very tightly into the plastic tray and barely moves. I don't want to destroy the tray to get it out.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Ken

MSF5000 ID
Hi, I'm putting an MSF5000 repeater on in an Amateur band. The ID'r is programmed, but when it IDs it normally strips the transmit PL off. This may be cool in commercial service, but hams expect to hear an ID. (The mobiles will be using PL decode). Is there a way to program or otherwise have the ID'...

Goof Off is made for removing adhesives, marking pen marks, crayon marks etc and works good for that. I'm not sure I would use it on radio plastics tho.

X9000 Talk Back Scan Questions
Hi, I am using several Syntor X9000 radios. When programming I always activate Talk-Back Scan and the respective delay time. However TBS does not seem to work with all control heads. (HCN1033 series) :( Q.1 Is this a firmware issue between control heads? If not, what? On one radio which TBS was work...

The Syntor X9000 has seperate programs for the the radio (RDPROG) and control head (CHPROG). You program them each independently, so you can easily go back and make changes. The control heads will work with any band, unless you have an 800 trunking version or a Spectra 9000 head that looks like the ...

Check my reply to 'Low Band Antenna Question'. And yes, if you mount it on the deck lid, bond the lid to the vehicle with wide braided shield.

Low Band Antenna
I'm using an Antennex Genisis wide band cut for 47-54 MHz mounted on my Dodge truck. It's pretty flat, SWR goes up to about 1.7 at the extreme ends. I use a 100W SX-9000 and transmit in the 6m band from a low of 50.3 and up into the 53 MHz range with NO problems. :D It also receives the CHP fine. 8)...

Josh,
Check out Kreco Antennas. They are rugged and you can get a DC grounded coaxial sleeve to mount on the upper part of the pipe. Herb Kreckman also gives a discount to hams.

Kevin, The central control units of some automated sprinkler systems are constantly polling the remote units for status, i.e. flow when there shouldn't be, flow rate when called for, turning on/off groups of control valves etc. They may also be using the frequency for local comm channel. Just...
