Thanks much for the info!
I expect to see it go to Mexico again. I'll be angling for a free burrito out of the deal

Re: XTL5000 Scan Problem
Thanks for the response, Jim. I wasn't at all aware of that issue. The odd thing with my radio versus what you describe is that it continues to receive just fine. In fact, if I enable scan and tune to a channel in the scan list, Priority or Non-Priority will still display on that channel when active...

XTL5000 Scan Problem
Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me with this little dilemma: My XTL5k has an intermittent problem such that it does not always scan when enabled. It is programmed such that the mic must be on the hook (grounded) to scan, so obviously continuity between the clip and ground was the first thing I...

Eric, You'll find the 2nd split all day long. 1st split might be a tad harder to come by. If you get a high split, make sure you test it (or arrange for it to be tested) before buying. I'd hate to see you end up with a radio that won't work on the 5.15 repeater. Thanks Doug. I wasn't aware of that i...

I would say that changing the tones would be the easiest resolution. I definately read some time ago as well about lower freq tones being an issue, but also can't remember where I saw it. Consider that Manchester has a remote link, and I've never heard of any complaints or missed calls out of them. ...

Minitor 2 Help!
Anyone out in Batland that can re-tune a VHF Minitor 2 down to 145MHz with decent sensitivity?
Edit: I should add that these would be the standard 148-160MHz boards I'm working with.
Thanks.

Minitor II Question
Thanks to a previous post by TPG, I know that Min II's come in the following VHF High sub-bands: 132.00-139.99 140.00-147.99 148.00-159.99 160.00-174.00 How do you determine which RF board the pager is using? I'll probably be needing 140-147 split and can't utilize anything else for the application....

You guys are on the right track here. I thought about it for half an hour last night and couldn't come up with a solution. An adjustment of scan hold and hang time seems appropriate, however if the radio stops on another channel while in scan mode, he'll miss the tones regardless of how the list or ...

Thanks for the thoughts Josh. I gather it's going to be an expensive journey to get this taken care of. I'm not going to sell it, because I'll have to disclose the problem with it, which means I'm going to take a pretty big hit over what I paid for it. Then again, I almost could have bought a new on...

No ground plane 1/4 wave antenna's are the next best thing to not having an antenna at all. If the foreman is opposed to drilling holes, I would at least try to talk him into a 1/4 mag mount. You'll increase your range by about 75% over what you're getting now. There's not much you can do with a no ...

There is no way to convert your existing equipment by re-crystalling or something similar. The only way to do this is to swap out the RF board from a Minitor 2 UHF into your existing low band's. So yes, you can do it, if you can find some surplus UHF boards somewhere. You will probably be better off...

As far as the structure is concerned, there's alot of thinking that went into it, as with any install I'm sure. The physical structure (materials) was easy. The first step was determining the overall look that I wanted to have. I wanted it to look somewhat professional, and I knew most of it would h...

Yeah, this is a work in progress. I'd really like to be able to boast MCS2000 Model II VHF & UHF's, but the funds are nowhere near available yet. Console was built from MDF, carpeted, and Troy faceplates installed. Note the fact that no manufacturer has a console that will house 12" of face...
