DeOxit is good for a lot of things, but I don't think carbon contacts is one of them. Anything that gets them wet and especially oily is likely to destroy them. The circuit board contacts are gold plated and can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, not with anything that leaves a residue.

That fuse is the one for ignition sense, you blow it or cut it to enable ignition sense. I'm guessing the OP has a bunch of radios they want to convert back.

There is a setting that can be set so that the radio only powers up when there is voltage on the ignition sense input, pin 25 of the accessory connector. It should be under 'Accessories' in the CPS.

There's an audio amplifier in the transceiver, and an amplifier on the CHIB (control head interface board) of each control head.

They are class D amplifier ICs that are spec'd at a supply voltage of 10 - 36 VDC.

Why QMA to Mini-UHF? Do you have Mini-UHFs on your meter?

Our wattmeters have N connectors and we use QMA to N for testing, cable type from wattmeter to radio, adapter from antenna to wattmeter.

Yeah, that's why I asked if you were getting any power. If you've got no power being generated the SWR circuit is pretty much useless. I figured it was probably a bad amplifier stage somewhere, can be hard to narrow it down, especially with class C amps.

The circulators that I've seem bad were burnt up inside, probably by lightning strikes. Guess that's ruled out.

Can you tell if it's trying to make any power? Exactly which PA model is it?

How exactly did you bypass them?

Circulators are a common failure point, I haven't worked on Quantar PAs but I've had a number of bad circulators in older models such as MSF5000.

Look for JU651 on the logic board, position A is low gain (80mV rms for 60% deviation), position B is high gain (40mV rms for 60% deviation).

Yeah.. no don't do that. It won't fit and will damage the connector.

The Maxtracs were 8 pin, the only one I remember with a 6 pin jack was the Mostar, but I suppose there may have been others.

Okay, wish I could help more, but I haven't done H/L since the GM300 days. I can't think of what might be missing there, other than verifying that you've got the correct pins I don't really have anything else to suggest. Maybe someone that has done H/L on an XTL will chime in here.

Which way are you trying to connect it, to the VIP Out 1 & 2 on the radio accessory connector or to the VIP port on a control head or DEK?
Have you set VIP up for Horn/Lights under Radio Configuration / Controls? There are settings under DEK A-C or Radio VIP depending on which you are using.

Just make sure you get the microphone plug wiring the right way around, Motorola always numbered their modular connector pins backwards which confuses a lot of people. If you want hang-up functionality you have to program one of the I/O pins for it, pins 6, 8, 12 and 14 should all have the Mic Off H...

I don't know that you could do it with tuner anyway, in the CDMs the tuner doesn't adjust the output power, it calibrates the power sensor.
