ht 1250 question

Hello,

I have a Motorola Ht 1250. When I turn on the radio I keep getting three short beeps.
When I touch the radio. Push the ptt or change the channel the beeps stop. Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance..
