Re: Selecting a VHF antenna for fiberglass bodied bus

Jpu, that's exactly what I wound up doing. It seems ok for now, but I am definitely going to give the screen and hole method a try when it's warmer. I'll post a pic later.

Re: Selecting a VHF antenna for fiberglass bodied bus

Well, since I already have a 1/4 wave and a 5/8 wave NMO, I think I'll pick up one of the 1/2 wave antennas and give it a shot off of the L bracket. When warm weather returns, I think I'll try the hole in the end cap and brass grid ground plane method with the 5/8. Thanks for the suggestions, everyo...

Re: Selecting a VHF antenna for fiberglass bodied bus

Negative on the headliner. It's a two piece fiberglass clamshell on the inside, and the outside layer is a corrugated fiberglass with an exterior fiberglass shell bonded to it. The layers are about an inch and three quarter thick, so I'm really scratching my head about how to go about this. These ha...

Selecting a VHF antenna for fiberglass bodied bus

Heya gang. I'm looking for a little input. I have a 1997 Ford E-350 with a fiberglass Eldorado Aerotech bus chassis that I'm converting into a motorhome. I just got my 110w Spectra installed and I'm trying to decide what story do for an antenna. My two work buses have the obligatory 1/4 wave on an L...

Re: What was your first /\/\otorola radio?

My first Moto was a 110 Watt Micor on Lo-Band. When I keyed it up, it would dim the headlights of my 79 Nova at idle. Second was either an SP-10 or a MaxTrac 50 on UHF, I don't remember which came first. Several varieties of MaxTrac and Radius later, I'm finally moving up to the big boys with a VHF ...

Re: Monitor II battery delete in charger. . . .

My concern is overcharge and leaking/explosion of the battery. The wall wart is non-OEM and while it powers/charges just fine, I don't think it steps down the juice.

Unless the factory ones were the same, and then I'll just do what you do.

Monitor II battery delete in charger. . . .

Let me start off with the fact that if this should be in the paging section, I apologize in advance. I have a Monitor II that I'd like to keep in the bedroom as a monitor. I have the drop in charger. Is it possible to modify one of these pagers to bypass the need for a battery and run directly off o...

Radius P110 6 channel expansion?

Howdy gang. In a box full of donated GM300's, I found an unexpected P110 portable! This donation keeps getting sweeter and sweeter. I've been told that if the radio was manufactured prior to 94' that it can be expanded with a certain software package. I'm pretty sure that mine was made in 95, but I ...

Okay, I'm finding conflicting information and diagrams on the pinout of this radio. Can anyone who actually HAS ONE describe the location of pin #1 and #16 so I don't fry this thing? Description wise, I mean while looking at the back of the radio itself, not the mating end of the connector.

OK, so I am at the whim of the Moto gods. I friend had given me a GR1225 UHF repeater ( said friend owns a radio shop) and said it "sort of works, but you can always use the parts". RX is fine, it transmits from the panel mic fine, but when retransmitting it only sends for a fraction of an...

Mine seems to work ok in an RF rich environment. We have a couple 300 watt paging transmitters near us and while it does desense a little bit, it still opens up when the tones drop. I don't know which release version it is because I haven't read the codeplug yet.
