Re: OT DTR question

I did find a sheet on how to update the firmware. Also found there is a separate cable for doing so. It is USB, not serial. Couldn't find the flashtool, however. It's time to throw in the towel on this. I ordered a case front from Wiscomm but got a message saying it was on back order. I guess I can...

Fixing Moto Speaker/Mics

I have a lot of Motorola HMN9026C Speaker/Mics that I'm using with my DTR radios. All are different in terms of volume level and clarity. I'm wondering what "wears out" in these spkr/mics, whether it's the speaker itself or some of the circuitry inside? Also, I'm wondering if anyone has ev...

Upgrade from DTR series

MODS: Please move this thread if you feel it's in the wrong forum... I have a bunch of DTR radios. Love 'em. Wondering if there's something out there that's even better, but with the following features from the DTR series: - License-Free operation (DTR are 900Mhz) - Fully programmable with free CPS ...

Re: DTR Radios - Gen1 vs Gen2

Anyone know a Motorola dealer/service center who could get us the skinny on what needs to happen regarding updating R5E.03.03 to R5E.06.00?
I called Motorola and they were no help at all.

Re: DTR Radios - Gen1 vs Gen2

Hook them up to CPS and tell us what version of firmware is currently on the radios.
My older 550's have R5E.03.03 and the newest firmware available is R5E.06.00. Anything older than R5E.03.03 is likely a Rev1 and will not connect to CPS.

Re: DTR Radios - Gen1 vs Gen2

There's not really a 'Gen 3', but As Rob alluded, there is newer firmware, which is used with version 3.x of the CPS, and can be flashed into any Gen 2. Ok, I have 10 used DTR550 radios with the removable antennas. I have the CPS cable and can program them with the CPS software, and the firmware sh...

Re: TAPATALK

I'll put my vote in to add Tapatalk.

On the 2 forums I run I have it installed. It's free, no advertising and is very easy to install, and no maintenance is required unless an update is required.

It sounded like Alex was up for it, I wonder what happened?

Where can I get details on the Cane Wireless Repeater?
I went to their website but there's no info there; Sent them an e-mail but no reply....

Love to see an owner's manual for it.

Re: DTR Radio Batteries

These batteries are available online for as low as $7.95, while the ones listed with the original Motorola part number are more like $30 - $50. Has anyone found a supplier selling for the lower price that is trustworthy? i.e. the Battery is the real deal, new and so on? There are so many places to b...

Re: DTR Radio Batteries

Got a new DTR650 and the battery it came with is part # is NNTN4655B, which is shown online as the "Hi Capacity" Battery.
It is larger than the SNN5706B, so that part # must be right.

DTR Radio Batteries

I've heard that the batteries in the DTR radios are the same as for some other products and money can be saved by purchasing the "equivalent" battery instead of the original. It's difficult though to figure out which battery is the "correct" equivalent though. The Moto part numbe...

Re: DTR Radios - Gen1 vs Gen2

Thank you very much! This is the best information I've ever been able to get on these radios. I understand that the Gen1 is stuck with it's firmware and cannot be upgraded or directly programmed using CPS. So I assume that even if a Gen3 were programmed with a feature like a lowered PTT tone volume,...

The programming is tricky.
Did you add the new group on every radio and match the IDs?
Are all the radio channels set to the new group?

DTR Radios - Gen1 vs Gen2

Hello everyone! New user, so if this is posted in the wrong area, hopefully the mods will move it to the proper forum. I recently purchased 4 used DTR radios, the keyboard and a cloning cable. I now have 1 650 and 3 550s. I tried to do as much research as I could about these radios beforehand, but t...

I'm not sure I can PM an admin. My PM sits in the "OutBox" rather than Sent messages.

If that's not the proper way to contact an admin, then please let me know the proper method.

Re: dtr650 private talkgroups

The programming is tricky. It's easier if you have the software or at least the plug-in keyboard. Go into programming mode Select Contacts Select [New Contact] Type: Private Grp Channel: Keep the same as all your radios Group Members: Pick the members you want in this group You'll need to do this on...

Re: OT DTR question

Sorry for the Necro-Bump, but there is not a lot of current information on these radios online.

Does anyone know where updated firmware and the flash software to update the firmware on a DTR550 can be found or purchased?
