I had the same problem when I used an XE mic on a XPR6550. Works fine on a 7550 with the latest firmware

Is there any way to set a password on either an Astro Saber or XTS3000 so that it is locked when the radio is being read? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, they are just different revisions with the 'E' being the newer one. If you ever want to sell one, shoot me a message.

In my experience, yes it is. I have recased used XTS5k's and the volume knob is tight until it is broken in. Personally, I like it more that way, but that's just my opinion.

Ahh gotcha. Im not sure a converter exists for that. Its been a while since I programmed VA files in an XTS, but doesn't it also use MVA?

Look in the "Common" folder with all the software files. It should have both WAV and MVA. If you can't find it, I have them saved and can email you a zip file.

Re: Astro Saber or XTS3000? And Battery Questions
You are correct about the Astro Saber and XTS3000 being very similar. The XTS3000 does use the same battery and charger as the 5k. I would say that the parts for the Astro Saber are harder to come by. I have owned many of both types of radios. I have not had an issue with the display on either one. ...

Re: APX 7000 FOR HAM RADIO USE
The radio will need to be flashed with 1 of two options to enable Front Panel Programming. Either Q52 which is Federal Government FPP or Q53 which requires a dongle. Most hacked APXs out there already have Q52 in it. If you happen to get a legit radio, you will most likely have to add it.

Re: Legacy EFJ 5100s and AES encryption?
It should say in the PCC software what encryption options are enabled. Under the main menu there should be an option to "Read Radio Configuration" or something to that effect. There should be check boxes next to different options.

Hello All,
I have a EFJ 5100SL ES that currently has 6.8.6 firmware. I am looking to bump it to either 6.12 or 6.14. Can anybody tell me what is required, and walk me through the process? Thanks in advance!

Re: Bricked HT1000?
A possible cause could be that the previous owner forced a codeplug from a different radio into it. I second what ai4ui said. Try different software and see if you get lucky.

I have used mine with a speaker mic for about 5 months now, and I have never had a problem. I use an earpiece with it, so I rarely use the internal speaker.

Is the radio scanning when you have these problems? If you are scanning, and the radio misses the first part of the data packet, it will not decode the MDC ID.

Re: Bricked mts2000
If you still have the radio, you can try forcing an old codeplug back into it. That unbricked one of mine. Sometimes if you have one function assigned to multiple buttons or switches, it confuses the radio and it won't pass the self test.
