Re: Ef Johnson 5100 Programming Issue

Solution found! The last owner used 1.30.07. As the pcconfigs are not backwards compatible, it wouldn’t let me use the 1.28.x version.

Ef Johnson 5100 Programming Issue

When I go to read from the Johnson, it loads for 1 second then says “invalid file read/opened. Operation aborted.” The radio then shuts down and restarts. The programming will read the version and options though. Using PCConfig 1.28.0.8. Radio: File Format Version: 5.8 DSP Software Version: 1.2.3 Co...

Re: Building a Minitor 5 programming cable

I use the standard cheapo one. Only issue is making sure the drivers are right on the computer. The 20 dollar ftdi i think it is, requires no messing with drivers. It's plug and play

Re: Building a Minitor 5 programming cable

I've taken a programming cable for a baofeng radio, chopped the end off, separated the wires, put them in the right contacts on the pager, and successfully programmed it multiple times. Not bad for $5.

Minitor Band Change

Looking to take some 151-159 minitors (iv and/or v) to the 143-151 range. Will be putting them on 147.000 and possibly 148.1xx area at a later time. Has anyone done this with success and little to no ‘tuning’ needed? Just want to make sure they are able to before committing. Thanks

Re: MDC Call Decoding

I do have the cable and software. MDC decode is enabled, but will only decode unit IDs and not call alerts.

Re: MDC Call Decoding

I’m using an EX560XLS. It is capable of receiving MDC call alerts. But I need to decode our station MDC call alert numbers in order to program them my HT.

MDC Call Decoding

Is there anyway that a MDC call alert can be decoded? Would like to program my HT for our station with the MDC instead of quick call. I’m aware that the HTs will not show the call alert info, but is their any computer programs that might do it? Thanks

Ef Johnson 5100 Battery Problem

Recently acquired a vhf 5100. Battery that came with it was udder rubbish but lasted long enough till a new battery came. Radio was working great though. After some use with the bad battery(just a bad lock on it) the radio started to not transmit audio and no digital signal. A little tap on it and i...

Minitor V programming

I have a Minitor V pager band split 453-462. Our Fire dispatch is on 453.125 and Ems on 462.975. Is it possible in any way to program both in?
Thanks
John
