A 4500 will work in dash or remote mount with a O5 head.

They will not support multi control head.

+1 WAIT for the new device. Even if you have to get a used 3K for now.

5K blows away the sorry excuse of the 4000, it's been junk since release, and gotten no better. Ranks up there with a MOSTAR.

A-C versions are not worth the trouble. They are super old at this point, with power supply issues galore. I was buying new 1177D's in 2003 or so, before IMPRES was a thing. A's would be 25 years old. You should be able to find D versions (most current before they were cancelled) super cheap now. $2...

Find a used M5 control head and swap it out. Much cheaper than depot.

1500's are getting REALLY cheap. Find a replacement, you can buy 3 of them for the price of a depot trip.

That's correct. Sensar was tone & numeric only. Nowhere near the battery power in that little beast to run an audio amp.

There was also a later version called the Gold Line. It was 900 MHz POCSAG capable. Used one for awhile in the 90's
Got a few of both in the collection. Will post later.

The big FedEx system ( RD-LAP ) was 800 MHz.

They did have some voice on 900 at some of the large distribution centers.

The 6K mono bander will live on, as the 8K becomes the premier portable.

My prediction, and only that....

7000 EOL/sunset, in favor of the 8000, just buy the bands you want active.
6000 is updated to include all the features of the 8000 being available for purchase, except single RF band.

Will they do P25 conventional yes. That old DSP won't sound so hot however.

What it will NOT do is rebanded trunking. As cheap as the 1 Meg radios are now the 512 rigs aren't worth much except parts.

Especially since these are 800, something to consider.

Leave the uhf at home, the frs/gmrs band is loaded, especially in port. The direct talk on the older iden units works great on the ships. You can get up to 3 to 5 miles or further in the right conditions.

I'd say it more likely needs an alignment. 16 in a RAM radio should be fine other than the stuttering keypad tones isssue.

IIRC, USB programming support came around FW 3 something but USB Flash wasn't supported until later, 5 or 6 something. Some radios it will take and work, some radios get bricked.

You also may want to try a RS232 cable instead of USB, those early radios are touchy when trying to do flash upgrades with USB. Yes, R16 CPS would be be BEST for you if you can access it.

IIRC, reprogram the Quantar's codeplug with CSS c14 and higher, and Analog Securenet goes bye bye and the station won't repeat it anymore.

Pretty sure your SOL on that. The SIU is a SYS9000 device, plus IIRC the MCS2000 isn't capable of multi/dual radio. Plenty with dual heads running around however.

Its the same head with a different faceplate. The newer XTL5000 mobiles are also coming with the dark color "Motorola O5" head installed. Just like when the brown Spectra heads turned black one day when XTL production began. Should be no difference other than maybe a newer version of CH S/W

The Futurecom/MOBEX advanced DVRS units will. I would certainly think the older VRS units would too. There isn't too much different about how they talk to the radio.

A REAL battery will certiainly fix this. Think those cheesy low priced aftermarkets go thru the testing the OEM batteries do? Not hardly. Rf is loading the battery, and causing voltage drop, or more likely stray RF in the DC input to your portable.

Yep, it's here. CPS 5.0 and DSP/HOST 5.0 for APX limits users to 12.5khz.

I had 7209's come NEW with XTS3000, so I'm not sure how accurate that is.

It will work fine as Gary says but DONT insert a LION batt. You risk a fire or at the least ruining your battery.
