Re: Aftermarket housing fit EBay 2010LindaWang
Yes the connector is indeed red. It matches the same type of construction I've seen on other "non branded" knock off antennas perfectly. Not only is the soldering sub par, but the injection molding is also not as good. Sometimes if you simply bend them enough the plastic slides right off! ...

Speaking of counterfeit...I have full length UHF and 800 and stubby 8/900. I was victim of a scam deal and am stuck with them as I would never sell them - too risky. I guess if people want them for kicks I can send them for "the price of shipping"?

Yeah well.... personally I feel the problem is more with the volume knob on the 6/7K. You can actually turn the radio all the way down to OFF just by brushing up against something! I'd much rather be on the wrong channel than turned completely off. I always use the "soft power off" featur...

Any word on the pricing of the new O heads as of yet? When I called for at least a part number for the new heads, they had no clue, "are you sure you don't mean the O5 head? I know there is an O5, O9 and O3 available". I had to reference their own literature which they then looked up and ...

Getting back on topic here... Just got word that the new O2 and O7 control heads won't be available until about June this year. Re: ASTRO 25 Firmware 17.00.00 Released
What I think Ko is referring to is a bug with some older RAM processors and newer firmware. Sometimes the radio's alert/keypad tones would "stutter" sounding like anywhere from 2 to 5 key presses in rapid succession (almost like an echo), but the radio otherwise functions normally. Usually...

you still have to have the correct ASK to disable ASK. The OP sent the radio to someone who ASK'ed it. So its the same form factor as the 6000? It doesn't look much smaller if at all, but hard to tell in those photos. I don't see a point of a "dumbed down" version - since these are flashport radios you pay for the features you need. Unless the Li is a non flashport strictly analog only vers...

My guess is all the channels that are changing with your edits are using the same conventional system. Are all the channels linked to frequency options within the same system? I'm aware of the main difference between the two models, 4Meg vs. 8Meg of memory allowing for newer firmware with bigger software features, but what else is different? Can the ancillary electronics be swapped between the two? (specifically the keypads, LCD's, flex assemblies, etc)

I'm almost certain that the band limits are stored either in the codeplug or radio firmware. The CPS allows you to program out of band, and clearly it's programming properly into the codeplug and loading into the radio. (I went a step further to test this theory by programming an in band RX frequenc...

You'll have to link each conventional personality to a scan list before you can toggle scan on/off. If the selected channel (personality) does not have a linked scan list, "SCAN" won't show in the menu and none of the programmed scan buttons will work.

On my 2500's you can program out of band all day with the CPS mod with CPS. But FPP programming retains all it's original band limits. So if you want to program in the ham band with FPP then get a Q split. (unless there's another hack to change FPP band limits like in the HT1550....anyone?) --Will
