Layout/usage of police channels in your area
I've been pondering the layout of our department's radio system lately. It occurred to me I have no idea how other comparably sized departments' radio systems are laid out and used. Would a few people mind posting their agency size, rough population estimate, and a quick overview of how the channels...

... and I thought it was just me. I have the same problem when charging the battery while still attached to the radio. If I take the battery off and charge it by itself, I never have any problems. Maybe the weight of the radio pulls it forward just enough to break the contacts. I haven't found a sol...

I use an XTS3000, and you most certainly can program both positions on the concentric switch to TX Inhibit, and it will work fine, as long as you only have trunked groups programmed in. I have noticed a 'bug' when you also have conventional channels that you transmit on. If you listen only to trunke...

What to do with tons of old batteries?
.. and it might literally be 'tons'. I have boxes and boxes (and boxes) of old batteries. Most are GP300 batteries, but there are some HT1000 and Maxon batteries, too. Most still work, just at a reduced capacity. Can anyone think of a good use for these? How about mass recycling? I know some stores ...
