Let me know if you end up taking the cf-27 apart. I'd be interested in what that optional CDPD wireless modem connected to. I'd guess mini-pci or maybe pcmcia? That would be great if you could just stick in a mini-pci wifi card.

Does that mean if I tear this thing open there is a 3rd PCMCIA slot that I can put the orinoco gold card that is currently sticking out the side into? This would be great as this card sticking out the side is the only weak point at the moment.

I took it apart and from what I can tell it does use IR for something. There are 2 IR LED's on the face of the watch that are directly under a tiny grid of holes on the face. Seeing as how the watch doesn't have any advertised IR features I figure it has to be for programming.

Why no comment on using Wiki? It's couldn't be a better solution for us. Admins and Mods don't have to do any moving and WE can share information as we see fit. New DTMF Visar case doesn't fit

I know there are differences in the versions of case for A through D models of Visar. I'm trying to get what appears to be an earlier model DTMF refurb case to fit on a D series Visar.

Any tips on how to make this fit properly besides just buying a new D model case?

If it's toolproofed how can I read and write to the radio with no problems? My understanding was if toolproofed that you couldn't manipulate the codeplug with regular RSS. I can do that no problem.

Anyone help me out with the error code?

The display is missing characters. The best I can make out is:

FAIL 01/?3

The ? looks like it could be a 8 or 9.

If the controller is VHF radio is UHF can this simply mean a mismatch and not toolproofed?

I picked up a UHF 403-470 visar. The case looks like a regular visar case that I've seen in the past but it says "Visar PLUS" instead of just "Visar".

Is this just a privacy plus visar plastic front that was placed on a UHF400 model or does this thing do something special?
