Re: DAYTON 2014! Who's in? The official 2014 thread
I made a late decision to come to Dayton on Friday only. I'll be wandering around in the flea market and listening on 151.880 NAC293. I'll be bringing a few VHF and 7/800 P25 portables with me to sell, so I may make an announcement a couple times on 151.880. I've got various other stuff I need to se...

MC3000 power connector pinouts
I have an MC3000 L3223A desktop console and no power supply. The connector jack is labeled DC 12V and appears to be some sort of mini-din connector. I don't have a working power supply to measure the voltage. Does anyone have the pinouts of the power connector, and do I need any connections other th...

Re: troubleshooting a dead XTL5000
Greetings, I recently bought a working used XTL5000 that was originally an XTL1500. It's a mid-power dash mount with an O5 head. It worked when I got it last week, I programmed it with two channels, talked on it once to test it, and all was fine. I left for an hour and when I got back it was off an...

Re: Packet TNC with Spectra A4
Can somebody verify the connections of a packet tnc (KPC-3) to a spectra A4? This is just a 1200 baud packet radio. Do I need to program the radio any special way to enable operation (accept audio from pin 1 and ptt from pin 13)? I know that some radios have to have the external input enabled or pu...

Re: XTS2500 PTT button broken
Kevin, You have a BN series radio with means the bezel is molded into the case. The PTT button pop's in and out with pressure applied in the proper locations. The part numbers you were provided earlier are for the older "AN" series cases which had a removable bezel and rubberized PTT butto...

Re: DAYTON 2011 - Whos in?
I have a VHF XTS5000, and I have a DES-XL board for it. Just need someone to install it (I don't have a clue how to even open the radio!). Anybody willing to do this at Dayton? I don't need any keys loaded, just the module installed. PM me and let me know how much you would charge and where I can fi...

Re: offline flashcode decoder app for Android or iPhone?
I'm going to Dayton this year and would like to be able to decode flashcodes from my smartphone. Last time I was at the Hamvention I couldn't get 3G to work reliably. Is there a flashcode decoder that works offline (no internet access required)? Ideally there would be an app for the Android or iPho...

Re: offline flashcode decoder app for Android or iPhone?
It was AT&T with an iPhone. That was last year. Worked in Dayton, just not at Hara arena during the Hamvention. I could make voice calls, but not data. I'm on Verizon with a Droid now, so maybe it'll work better?bezking wrote:Sort of OT but who is your carrier that it didn't work well at Dayton?

Re: XTS2500 PTT button broken
You do not need to remove the plastic around the switches to replace the PTT button. The bezel that surrounds the PTT and the two side switches comes off, but the easiest way to do so is with the housing removed from the radio. Invariably, I manage to break 2-3 out of a dozen if they have to be rem...

Re: XTS2500 PTT button broken
Kevin, the part you are looking for is #7585959C01. It shows it to be $3.73. this is for the button. The plastic around the switches is #1385149D01 and is $4.83. I wasn't sure of the exact one you needed so here is both. -Jeff Well, the parts arrived, but I couldn't figure out how to release the pl...

XTS2500 PTT button broken
Hi all,
Just bought a used XTS2500i and the PTT button has a crack in it. It's the plastic part, not the surface mount switch. It still works, but I'd like to replace it.
Does anybody have a part number for this? Is it something I can order from Motorola Online?
Thanks!
Kevin

Thanks HumHead, I replied to k2hz before I read your message, but it looks like we found the same information. Kevin As of the 3/11/2010 NPRM in 10-36 ( http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-10-36A1.pdf ), the FCC has removed the requirement for frequency coordination when the only c...

Re: Slightly OT: Narrowband license modification
You don't say what service you are licensed in but you will probably have to file through a frequency coordinator who can provide some guidance. If you have an "itinerant' license, frequency coordination may not be needed. Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It's Part 90, eligibility 90.37A, ...

Slightly OT: Narrowband license modification
Hello everyone, In addition to being a ham radio operator, I'm also a member of a SAR group that has a public safety license for a single VHF frequency. We're starting to look at transitioning to narrowband. We found the following document that describes the process of adding narrowband to the FCC l...

XTS5000 PL tone TX/RX reversed?
Hi all, I've got an XTS5000 with a strange issue. When I program it using FPP, the TX PL and RX PL seem to be reversed. That is, it does not transmit a 100 Hz PL tone unless I set Rx PL to 100.0. I'm guessing I must have clicked some obscure setting in CPS by mistake the last time I programmed the r...

Read it and see. Don't worry, I plan to -- when it arrives next week. I was really hoping somebody knew what the SP01 meant now though, as I'm really curious about it. I've never seen an Astro Spectra with SP01 in the model number, and didn't find anything searching old posts, so I'm a bit puzzled....

I just bought one of these on everyone's favorite auction web site (don't have it yet). Obviously it's a UHF Astro Spectra; I can figure out the D04RKF9PW4AN part of the model number. What does SP01 mean? The only information I could find regarding this was some old posts about VRS and special produ...

I'm new to Motorola radios so please forgive me if this is a silly question. I might be purchasing a VHF A4 Spectra soon and need to know if it's zone-capable. I heard that all A4 Spectras will do zones, but I also read that the MLM must be version 6 or better. Unfortunately the person selling the r...
