Mix and Match control heads on APX8500
I seem to recall that in years past it was possible to have a dual control radio setup with different control heads in front and rear, however there were some limitations. Does anyone know what will and will not work? I currently have an APX8500HP with 09 control head in the front with siren and URC...

Yeah, I have a 4000 as well but honestly the 3000+ imho works better and just seems to be a better platform. Now that Moto is talking about their intent to replace the 4000 with the 5000 and go away from the Windows Mobile platform I am sure that we will soon be moving up again.

After many years of never needing any other algorithm for my KVL3000+ other than DES-XL/DES-OFB I decided to add AES and ADP to the unit.....that is until I talked to Motorola who basically said "we don't support it anymore". So before I file it away and use my KVL4000 exclusively, does an...

I am sure this is a long shot but looking for a Havis C-VS-1200-GM. This is for 2001-2006 Tahoe's that retain the factory center console. Its an older vehicle and really don't want to spend $200+ just to buy if someone has a used on that I can clean up.

Marshall, for what its worth, its in ECAT as an option to the standard O3 control head (GA00806) however PID doesn't have a breakdown of the part needed to change the legend. Also they reference some "software configuration" in the radio to support it, however nothing I can find seems to l...

Thanks Marshall, that would be helpful. Whereas I have not yet tried the external interface, I cant seem to figure out what it would not work with the existing Motorola siren since it does work already with O9 and O7 heads....would seem like the O3 would work the same.....

Well....a good update on this one....there is definitely an issue...Motorola admits that the APX series TIB GCAI does NOT function like the TIB GCAI on an XTL series radio. This renders the use of the mic extension cable useless, nor can a mic be directly plugged into the GCAI on the APX either. So....

The agency that I work with has approximately 1500 XTS3000 and 5000 portable radios.
