Re: MT-500 Question
Ive done bunches over the years. Once you've done the recrystalling you would need the radio to reinstall the TCXO and retune and recalibrate the radio with a calibrated service monitor. Ive bought crystals and had BOMAR or ICM install them in the TCXOs I supplied (especially MX radios). I still had...

Re: What is MACE and R-revision firmware?
At the heart of an APX radio lies the MACE security chip. The MACE is an on-board radio encryption device providing cryptographic services for all voice and data communications. It also provides a secure environment for storing encryption keys via a hardened tamper-resistant chassis that’s FIPS 140-...

Could be a ground plane issue with the Waris and those antennas. A field strength meter would be helpful. You could use a VOM with a diode between the leads for a crude measurement device

Harris Orions and M7100s can put 2 radios together with one control head. Mating the Pyramid shouldnt be too difficult in that mode.

Thats definitely ignition noise. Spark plugs (must be resistor) ignition wires, yours has the coil over Replace them. Look for loose or corroded connections. Dont disregard the connections for the tach. It takes impulses from the ignition. I had a poor connection on the tach caused lots of emitted R...

May be able to back track the formula using the Xtal freq. Sometimes the Xtal goes into a TCXO

Replace electrolytics , A lot of wires lose their insulation so you should check them. Some resistors break down over time too. Transformers can short internally. I restore a lot of old vacuum tube radios and electrolytics are first. I also use a variac to bring up power. Start with 20 volts and go ...

You might also check your battery. If its failing more strain on your alternator. If all this checks time to check your alternator. You may also install a whine filter inline with your radio power lead. Try this..... http://www.worldwidedx.com/home-brew/31492-building-simple-alternator-whine-ignitio...
