open the db25 rib connector and verify the wire connections to pins 1 15 6 and a jumper between pins 4 11
if you find connections to pins 1 15 8 that is for the analog saber.
the radio end of the cable is the same for both.
hope this helps.

This is a known problem with the Astro Spectra range 3 radios that are programmed for 440 - 450 MHz. there are three different solutions. 1 update firmware to the latest. 2 find an srecord for a motorcycle range 2 438-470Mhz. 3 there is a hack for the current srecord that may still be available on a...

The Clean Cab CPS will only program the Control Head. Use the latest Astro Spectra CPS for frequency programming with the mid, low power Spectra, Astro Spectra programming cable. Astro Spectra fail 01/92 is Internal EEprom checksum error so an srecord may not help. the srecord (codeplug) resides in the external EEprom. you can try to enter the service side of CPS go to the alignment and change one softpot setting by one digit save and back out of the service menus just remem...

Welcome to the Board. The analog Spectra will program down to 140 MHz with no mods required, however if I remember correctly may go out of lock about 141 mhz. as for the front end board number, you need to verify that it isn't an HR(E)6004A as that would indicate that some one pulled the original an...

Re: Spectra Astro analog conversion
The Astro Spectra UHF RF board is not range specific except for Range 2 CEPT(low power Motorcycle) 430-470 which uses a coax connection to the VCO.
Range 1. 403-433 3. 450-485 4. 485-512 do not use that connection and it is not placed on the board.
so that gives you some options.

The analog Spectra is fairly hard to kill
The 01/82 error is a checksum error normally fixed by reading the Codeplug and writing back without making any changes.
what are you using for your programming setup? processor, speed, OS, and does the computer have a real serial port?

this sounds like an accessory cable problem
open the connector and see if pin 4 switched B+ and pin 5 ignition sense are shorted together
they should not be and will cause the problem you describe if they are
