Paging

Craig, There are any number of radios that can do what you want starting around $275 and up or a good used Maxtrac or GM300 would do it. Icom makes a great little mobile, F121, that does fine at around $325 and portables as well. Be glad to help you find something. Give me a call, Danny Smith, Easte...

In behind the power control board is a small diamond transistor. That was usually the source of the problem you describe. Also, you could have a bad antenna network module, mounted on the back where the antenna hooks up. It has to detect power to supply the 9.6 you're missing. Hope that helps. Danny

If you have the spectra lab program, you have to go in and tell it to change heads to a standard head, then you can change it to the A5 front head. When the unit had the 9000 series head on it, it keeps looking for that head information and will not come up until you tell it to change heads.

The five pin logic board will only do a conventional channel as a B4 model. That unit had a T/A in place of Sub B. You have to blank the board with the Lab software and then program it as a B4. You can still do 2 systems and one conventional. You'll need a codeplug of a B4 to do it right.

Not that I know of, but if it was on when the unit was turned off and you don't disconect the main A+ to the power conector, just use the ignition to turn it off, then it should stay on what ever you had it set at when it went off. Mine does.

If this is a trunking radio, then you need to change the software chip to a HLN5569A or equivlant to make it do conventional. Then after blanking the board, tell it what you want it to be.

The conector is a mini-uhf on all maxtracs. the B5 model is only a trunking radio. To use it on conventional, you were told right. You have to blank the board and make it a conventional radio or change it to a B7 model and put a display face on it. Takes Lab Rss to do this.

Unfortunately the maxtrac trunk program will only display the last two digits of the system ID when reading the radio. The only way to know is if you have a newer radio to read or can find out what the System ID is from someone. If you can get the System ID, I know where you can get a system key.
