Re: Part 90 repeater licensing resource?

EDIT: I remind you that by the FCC's own rules; itinerant is meant to define radio systems, that move place to place and maybe on the air for an indeterminate amount of time. Indeed, I just remember been told an itinerant license doesn't extend to fixed point operation. Simplex itinerant frequencie...

Re: Part 90 repeater licensing resource?

Oh, that's a good point. I'd toyed with trying to resell access, either as a community repeater or a single-frequency LTR system, though I'm not sure how successful it would be. That intent might be adequate. (My sole proprietorship web hosting company probably doesn't need a repeater. ;)) Honestly...

Re: Part 90 repeater licensing resource?

A good place to start is looking up licenses in your area on ULS, but what you mentioned will probably be insufficient justification to get granted a repeater license. With the usual disclaimers about this not being legal advice, it's my understanding that any commercial activity qualifies under 90....

Re: CFR47 Part15.247 900 MHz GMRS Link

Many people in the GMRS community have spent some time trying to carve a bit more functionality out of the service, but the only place the FCC has relented is DOS. And even then they probably only did because of the ridiculous Garmin Rino ruling. What happened with the Garmin thing? I don't really ...

Re: CFR47 Part15.247 900 MHz GMRS Link

I believe if you delve into the guts of the rules regarding GMRS, you cannot interconnect to the PSTN (as you stated), you cannot link multiple repeaters together, and you cannot interconnect to other services. FHSS radios would likely be considered as operating in another service (ISM). This is it...

Re: Saber Secure I 403-433MHz - a few questions

If they already aren't very tight, it probably won't take very much. I just tried it for the first time in a while, you want to loosen them enough that the center peg in the spanners appear to recede, and the spanners/shrouds themselves are relatively easy to move around. Do it a few times and you'l...

Re: Saber Secure I 403-433MHz - a few questions

Opening Sabers is a fairly easy task, yeah. The screws will just remove the battery plate (impeding further dissasembly; forget about them). The spanner nuts on the bottom are what you need to loosen. Some Security bit sets have usable bits, failing that you can take smallish needle-nose pliers and ...

You won't find any type-accepted FRS paging equipment. Data transmission on GMRS is illegal. Don't quote me on it, but I believe MURS (154MHz part only) allows for one-way data communicitions. Ham equipment would be ineligable for MURS operation, however a Maxtrac which is Part 90 certified would be...

If you have a GMRS license, you may transmit on the GMRS channels, and the first 7 FRS channels (known as interstital), but with 5W max TPO. If the HT1250 can be programmed down to 2W and narrowband on the 151 channels, MURS is fine. From what I've read here, Ebay aftermarket RIBless cables are hit-...
