Re: Dual-Radio A9 Head -- X9000 primary and Spectra secondary?
Let me put out some thoughts on this whole Dual Radio issue. First, I have used Syntor-X 9000 dual radios ever since Motorola first offered them. You use a DUAL RADIO version of the X9000 RSS and NOT the latest version (which is for the old BROWN HHCH, interface box etc. which totally wipes out your...

Re: Spectra Astro, dual radio option?
The XTL5000 has a dual radio configuration. It uses a special HHCH Y control CABLE. It requires that both radios be flashed for G474, Multi Radio Software. The special Y cable is long NLA from Motorola. You use standard Astro25 RSS (XTL5000) to program each radio, one VHF hi power and one UHF high p...

Re: Possible to operate a gr1225 without control head?
Hi Guys:
Lets set a few things straight here.
With the control head missing you will not be able to channel steer the radio from the rear connector. You can use the GM300 volume board to program and even run an R1225 but the DISPLAY BOARDS are different.

Re: NMO center tab size question
Oops I had that backward, just found the sheet that comes with Motorola NMO mounts. The models listed cover from 136-870 in 6 splits and it mentions that the spring washer and dielectric washer are to be used only for 136-150.8 MHz for impedance matching and as d119 mentions this washer effectively...

Re: Astro Spectra - bad caps - every production run?
Astro Spectra Plus by firmware/software is pretty much an XTL. However hardware wise (minus vocon board) are the same as a regular astro spectra. With that being said the only thing different between astro spectra and analog spectra is the command board/vocon. I realize I'm a few years behind on th...

Re: Make your own Astro Spectra
At this point I realize that this topic is ancient history but I did a couple of these a few years ago. UHF: I got a $39 donor 420 radio from fleBay and removed the receiver synthesizer (same for 403-433 and 450-470, vocoder and audio board. I then installed these into my old analog Spectra, put in ...

Re: XTL5000 Dual Radio
Here's the scoop: You need two 5K mobile radios, preferable both HIGH POWER or the buttons on the HHCH will be screwy. You need to get the radios upgraded so that both radios have the G474AB option. There IS software out there that allows this to be done in the field. Any corrupt M$$ Tech should be ...

Re: GR1225 Repeater not re-transmitting. . . .
I'm not sure from reading these posts if you actually ever read THE RADIO with the RSS. If the RADIO has a control head you read and write to the radio through the mike jack it. If the radio doesn't have a control head (which it sounds like yours does) you can remove the small front cover, mash on t...

Re: ROIP 102 Modules
WHOA, let's start over here. I have a pair of these RoIP-102 boxes. This product's help is worse than a very bad joke. The eBay seller referred me to a link for the manual which is written in jibberish. The manufacturer's only response was to ask me who I bought the devices from. All communication, ...

Re: Syntor X9000 low band programming for 6 meters help need
FAT Syntor the easy way. First of all, get the firmware that you want to use. Stock, 128M or Dual Radio. I'm not going to go into PROM part numbers right now, just the methodology. If you want to go above 32 modes you will need to change the codeplug PROM to a 2864 EEPROM. Be sure to move the push p...

Thanks, Y'all for responding. Yeah, the RSS shows the f/w as v 5.0. That's prolly it. It's in LA and I'm in San Jose. I'll play with it when I get back.

What firmware?? Escomm is asking about this on my behalf.
This problem exists with Astro Spectra, Astro Spectra+ and XTL5000 mobiles.
Except for CDM's I haven't seen this feature work since the analog Spectra.

Re: Two Radios / One Control Head
I have 4 conventional Spectras working off of one head in my Suburban. I did this by installing a 4-way 25 pin switch in the line from the control head to the radios. It, obviously only does one radio at a time but I only need to use one radio at a time. TRY THIS FOR AN A-5 OR A-7: Power each radio ...

After about 5 years of peddling narrow band GM300's Motorola coam out and said that's not the way to do it. Buy this whiz-bang new (SM50 or M1225, I forget) radio. It's narrow band is sooo much better.

There was also a 5.34B version, same part number. You can make your own proms with a commercially available prom reader/burner for your computer.
Also if my memory serves me correctly that one is a 128K Prom. You can get them at Mouser and burn your own.

Re: How to program Radius R1225?
You can use the volume/microphone board from an M120 or a GM300 to turn the radio on and program it. You will need a jumper between pins 7 and 8 on the front connector to turn the radio on IF you don't have the proper control head (front panel) for it. You can PROGRAM the radio to operate as a stand...

Re: Dual Astro mobile\single control head
How about this? In Syntor 9000 Dual Radio each radio has an extra bit that ID's it as a PRIMARY or SECONDARY radio that the regular RSS doesn't see, right? For the conventional Spectra can we imbed this bit in the radio somehow ? Motorola already has a Dual Radio setup but it utilizes the SEIU night...

Re: X9000 lowband programming issue
Actually, FAIL 01/90 also indicates that there is no voltage on the big red A lead to the radio. Take some time, figure out how the programming cable connects to the radio and go into the control plug at the radio and build yourself a programming cable into that connector. I had to do this on a van ...

Blah, Blah, Blah. 1. The next to latest DOS software for the Jedi series is 6.00.07. I use a dual boot, 98 and XP Pro. This version works just fine in the DOS boot of Windows 98. Much adoo about nothing. Simply amazing how many off the wall ideas the in-experienced can come up with. Use a TS-100 speaker or equivalent. Take a Motorola 5-803001 (the old part number) hole plug, trim off the small part, remove the reentry cone from the speaker and glue in the previously removed ...

JEDI radios are by far the hardest to communicate with using a computer/RIB. Try a genuine MOTO RIB. If you can communicate with your JEDI radio, it's most likely that your computer/RIB will communicate with ANY Moto radio except the oldest and slowest; HT600, Syntor 900, etc. if the cables are Ok a...

MAXTRAC
The problem might be a defective DRAM (Dallas something or other...it's like an IC but it's a block and it's about ¼ inch thick).
Just replace the firmware with a Maxtrac v4.0 P/N HLN9277A, blank it again and then try to program the radio.
I have done this in the past and it cured the beep.
