I don't know about the 820, but if you decide to use an mtx800 as Will suggested, the disc. can be found on pin 5 of J2 on the controller board.

This is according to the mtx800 service manual.

I renamed it to indicate it is a portable (H), even though I know it's in the GTX portable category. Also I saw where the 800 maxtrac CP's were named MAXTRK80.B7 etc. which is not a serial number. I not only tried the one I sent but also the maxtrac CP's with no luck with them either. I have noticed...

Hi Bill,

I checked my cable that goes between the comp and the RIB and pins 8 and 9 are not connected to each other at the DB9. Should these be connected when using the Polaris PA1 ?

Also my prog cable does have the 3 wires you mention.

today when I blanked the board in my maxtrac I got similar tones.
it stopped after initializing the board.

O.K.,thanks to Danny being nice enough to send me a B4 cp. this is where I'm at... I got the B4 cp loaded into the rss as an archive,made changes to trunking and conv. modes to match the other units. Blanked and initialized the D35MQA5GB5BK unit as a B4. Now the trunking mode will tx and rx fine... ...
