Help with an Antenna ID...

Post by fchrist16 »

I have this antenna puck off an old car, I thought it was for modem OR GPS use, but I'm not finding much online. It's a puck style GPS looking antenna with about 15 feet of coax and a N style connector at the end.

Anyone know anything on it?

Motorola SAF-5340A

Mag mount?

A Google of SAF5340A comes up with lots of mag mount puck type antennas with 15-feet of cable for Sat phone use.

Yes mag-mount. Interesting that it would be for a Sat phone on a newer service car. Could it be used for GPS then?

It's an Irridium antenna, 1616-1626 MHz, right hand circular polarization, 3dB gain

So totally useless except a "display piece" for me then...? Bummer, I'd love to use it on a GPS or as a "wifi" modem on the car.
