Hara Arena Tornado Damage

Post by Andy Corbin »

Not sure if this is the right place to start this topic, but here goes.

Heavy duty tornado damage to the Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio last night. I know there are a lot of Ham operators on Batwing and have been to the Hara many times in the past for Hamvention before it was moved to Xenia. If there was ever even the slightest glimmer of hope to resurrect the Hara, I am certain it is gone now.

From what people tell me, it didn’t look much worse before the tornado hit. GARY.

There are several videos on Youtube of "urban explorers" who went into HARA around 2018 and explored the entire facility. There were offices and apartments that I never knew existed.

Interesting and eerie, seeing the state the facility was in before the tornado damage.

It was due to be bulldozed later this year, there has never been a inkling that it would reopen from the new owners.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
