CP200 tone when PTT

Post by wcu02mpa »

I several CP200 UHF radios that are exhibiting a problem. It happens on random channels and when a know good and charged battery. When I PTT the radio emits a tone, sometimes short and sometimes steady. The programming has no two-tone or mdc. My first thought is vco going out of lock. The weird this is like four of them are doing it. Albeit the customer us7ally does send them in when the radios are literally on deaths door. Anyone else ever see this and could it be anything other than VCO going unlock? Sometimes when I release the PTT, then it does transmit fine. Radios have not other issues.

Thanks
