HT-1250 VOX operation - Someone knows the trick

I need an HT-1250 to operate in VOX mode.
In the conventional personality I have checked the vox box.
In the configuration I checked vox headset.
I must be missing a step. Someone must know the trick to getting this radio into "vox mode".
