CleanCab Spectra update to a ASTRO narrowband - Is it possible?

Post by k7kcn »

I have about 5 older railroad CleanCab Spectra radios that are wideband and not able to be upgraded to narrowband.

My question is that since the base radio inside is just a Spectra mobile, can that older wideband brick be swapped out for an ASTRO brick and operate as normal?

Thanks!

I'm not sure that's possible. Railroad version ran its own 'flavor' of firmware, and as such was unique onto itself. Swapping the RF Deck out with a narrowband unit, the old & the new may not play nice together. If it's been done successfully, I've not hear of it.
