Motorola Mic on Whelen Siren
I have a whelen 295HFSA1 Siren. The Mic for the PA doesn't work any more. We have a bunch of older Motorola HMN1061A Mics lying around. I was wondering if I could convert it to work as the mic for my siren. Thanks for the help. Also if you have an alternate method of fixing the mic that would work too

...what's wrong with the mic? PTT doesn't work? IIRC the HFSA1 has a hard wired mic, so you'd be forced to crack the chassis to replace it. If you're going to be cracking the chassis to replace it, you might as well replace it with an OEM mic.

Yea. When I first got it, it would work but the volume would be really low. Even with the gain on the siren unit turned up. It got quieter and now doesn't work at all. I've opened up the mic to make sure all the connections were okay inside and they were. I was just going to cut the Motorola connector off that mic, cut the whelen mic close to the unit. Then wire it together

yes. Connections are all good in the mic. The driver or whatever I think is dead in the mic. The only reason I would use a motorola would be because I have one already

Whelen usually has a fairly good warranty, might want to check that first.
