I agree Rob. I firmily believe it was an attempt to steal Galls' business from SVP as they made a light identical to the full length version of the Phantom. Whelen is usually the first to cry foul if someone remotely copies their idea, looks like the tables might turn!

That "list pricing" --- is that the cost for the dealer or the suggested retail price? Don't dealers get like 40% off of the suggested retail price?

To make it more authentic, it comes with a Hamsexy license card and SkyWarn stickers.

I think these things will sell pretty good; I just heard of a dealer pricing these out to customers in the $90 range.

Our pre orders are putting us at 20+ plus ordering just by taking a blue Spec8 along with me on my repair return errands.
A bright little well put together light it is.Can't wait to test it side by side against some of the other LED dashlights out there at the Fire/EMS shows.

Anyone know how well these perform? For the cost, I would be willing to shell out a few more bucks for a talon.

That beats $78 from SirenNet.com

I wonder if this LSH guy will ship ASAP because I notice he is selling these with different color combinations. The SirenNet guy said that he only has red and red/blue split.

I am intersested in the red/white splits.

Hmmm...pretty cheesy, but then again what did I expect for $70.

Now if these TIR8's are $71, why would people still pay $50-70 for a single TIR3 module? I wonder if these will replace the TIR3's.

Whelen really has to get out some better mounts for this TIR8.

I doubt it, they aren't weatherproof, and they aren't that great.

Weatherproof doesn't mean squat to me since they will be inside.

As far as them not being "that great", are they not using the exact same technology behind the TIR3's???

I would imagine the TIR3 would be used for exterior mounting, grills, bumbers, rear bumber etc.
The Spec8 would be for interior dash, rear deck or wherever someones imagination takes them to put the thing. As it is being marketed against Galls type and other Value Line LED dashlights I doubt Whelen will offer much to change it.
I have seen worse mounts in other products at shows for dash lights.
I think it will do good. Not sure if it is encapsulated like the TIR3 is.
If you ever go to Chester CT take the Whelen Factory tour.It is interesting.Especially the machine that punches in LEDs into assembles and heads,it is dizzying.Must be the cleanest production floor I have ever seen.

I will try to get an answer on this while I am my Whelen Serial classes in a few weeks at the Factory in Chester,CT.I am still waiting for the LED corners hideaways and Takedown/Alleys to be released.Argh!
Code 3 has LED corner kits but they are not impressing me at all.

Fed Sig just released their LED Hide-Away's. The design seems to be much better than the Code3"s, but I haven't seen the Federal's in person yet.

Chipjumper, maybe being weatherproof doesn't matter to you, but I was answering your question about why anyone would still buy and use TIR3's. The answer was because they are encapsulated and weatherproof.

yes yes but don't the TIR8's have 5 more bright LED's than the TIR3's? What about when they do come out with a weatherproof version of the TIR8?

I guess it really comes down to this: is the TIR8 using better or identical technology the TIR3 uses? No doubt that the TIR3's are bright.

Ok, I understand what you mean. Anyone else notice a likeness of the new TIR8 to the Tomar LED's?
