Best speaker for PA use?

Post by K6UK »

I am doing an install where PA will be the primary mode of operation.
I was wondering which speaker would be the best choice for clear intelligible voice. Do plastic/composite speakers such as Whelen's distort speech more than the aluminum equivalent?

Thanks for the help!

Not as far as I can tell. I'd go with either the Whelen SA314P, or if you want aluminum, a Federal BP100.

I have dual aloy whelens SA314A's in my suburban and a single plastic
SA314P in the my silverado. Both have XTL2500 radios with the siren/PA kit.
The suburban is louder but thats about it. Both sound clear as.
