Post by PiPod »

Hey is Dragon ( http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/ ) still the standard in voice recognition software? Anyone have the new version? Does it work with accents?

I can personally vouch for the software; we use it at work on multiple computers at multiple sites. I figure if a bunch of computer clueless occupational therapists can train it in 30 mins and use it every day; AND for it to produce satisfactory results, it works well.

I would hear about it if it didn't work; they are a bunch of whiners

Naturally Speaking is the gold standard for this type of software. It'll work with accents because each user has to go through a training process when they set up the software.

The only competing product out there is IBM's Viavoice. I have experience with this product myself and it works well also. I see that Nuance has also taken over support of this for IBM.

Hope this helps,
