RLN4008B Service Manual

Post by yagermeister »

Hi:
Does anyone know where a Service Manual (6880309C92) could be found for the RLN4008B RIB? I assume that Motorola would no longer carry this.
Thank You

Here is my later schematic with the mods that help the RS232 incompatibility problem.

Will:
Thank you for posting the revised schematic. So far, I haven't had any issues using my RLN4008B or the eBay clone (KAWA?) I picked up several years ago. I'm using mostly slower, older 80486 CPU machines on Maxtracs, GM300s, GP300s and a few HT1000s and MT2000s. Where does the RS-232 incompatibility usually occur?
Thank You,
Gary

What radios do you own?: CDM's, CP's, CM's, and more

The rib should be solid between a pc with a real serial port and itself. It's the newer PC's with USB only that are usually the problem. That will center around crappy USB to Serial adapters. The common advice has always been to use an adapter that has the Prolific chipset in it and the latest Prolific driver. I was recently informed that the most current driver may not be useful and that the 2013 issue of that driver is the one to use. I have not used the newest driver since mine was installed well over a year ago and I have had no reason to change it.

Steve:
Do you know what brands of USB to Serial Adapters use the Prolific chipset? I've successfully used an IOGear GUC232A with Windows 7 (32 bit) and an MTS2000 with CPS R02.03.00, but had no luck at all with a Sabrent brand USB to Serial Adapter.

One source that uses the latest Prolific genuine PL2303HX chips in the U.S. is http://plugable.com/products/pl2303-db9
