This forum houses the BatBoard Knowledge Base. In here you will find sub forums which will have articles written to help support and guide your way through the Motorola world. These topics cover everything from Centracom's to product pricing. The topics shown in this forum are from the old Batboard version 2.x boards, and links will not work. I have been looking at these documents on Motorola's rebanding site trying to see if my radios could be upgraded.

https://www.motorola.com/governmentande ... th=mssone2

These charts are for the current band assignments, not the band the system is moving to.

The mistake I made was that I thought I was in Category A, when in fact it is category B. In 'A' my radios can be 'retuned'. In 'B' however, Motorola does not list my radios at all. This leaves me to conclude that my radios can not be upgraded.

Thanks

RB radios

Post by radioguruphil »

I met with Nextel and my Moto guy, my dept is on 851.3875. We are going to 855.1125. However, they are also going to change the channel asignments for the Mass. state trunking system. Something about chanel number assignments. I have been told that the Mts 2000 built before 08/96 do not have enough memory to do the new trunking plan. And we also figured out that most trunktracker scanners will not work either. When I get more info I will share it with all.

What radios do you own?: APX / Astro 25 / Harris

All this BS really comes down to is the NSPAC channels. THAT is what is causing the major headache. Everything else is a simple retune via software that is updated to support the new channels.

@#$%^& Nextel.

I know that rebanding won't have any real affect in Canada, but does anyone know if this might affect some systems that are very close to the border?

Also, since rebanding isn't taking place in Canada, will newer radios produced by M be able to work with the old channel numbering scheme or will they only work with the new frequencies?

The List from Motorola and Nextel.....

Post by txshooter »

The following comes directly from the list supplied by Motorola and Nextel. As with anything I am sure there will be exceptions to the rule, but this list should come pretty close:

PORTABLES
LTS2000 --> XTS2500 RB MODEL III
ASTRO SABER 512K --> XTS2500 RB MODEL III
SABER SI --> XTS2500 RB MODEL III OR XTS1500 RB
MTS2000 256K --> XTS2500 RB MODEL III OR XTS1500 RB
STX GEMINI PLUS --> XTS1500 RB
STX --> XTS1500 RB

MOBILES
LCS2000 --> XTL2500 RB
ASTRO SPECTRA PRE 1996 --> XTL2500 RB OR XTL1500 RB
ANY MOTORCYCLE RADIO --> XTL5000
SPECTRA W7 --> XTL5000 OR XTL2500 RB
SPECTRA W9 --> XTL5000 OR XTL2500 RB
SPECTRA --> XTL2500 RB OR XTL1500 RB
SPECTRA E --> XTL2500 RB OR XTL1500 RB
MAXTRAC --> XTL1500 RB OR XTL2500 RB
SYNTOR X9000 --> XTL1500 RB OR XTL2500 RB
SYNTOR X --> XTL1500 RB OR XTL2500 RB

MICOR --> XTL1500 RB
MOSTAR --> XTL1500 RB
TRAXAR --> XTL1500 RB
MOTRAR --> XTL1500 RB

ANY CONSOLETTE --> XTL5000

GUIDLINES FOR CHOOSING 1500 RB OR 2500 RB MODEL RADIO IN EITHER OR SITUATION.

PORTABLES
-IF PORTABLE IS MODEL III REQUIRES ENCRYPTION REPLACE WITH XTS2500 RB
- LTS2000 REPLACE WITH XTS2500 RB
- OTHERS REPLACE WITH XTS1500 RB

MOBILES
-IF MOBILE REQUIRES ENCRYPTION OR 256 CHANNELS REPLACE WITH XTL2500 RB
-LCS2000 REPLACE WITH XTL2500 RB
-OTHERS REPLACE WITH XTL1500 RB
Sorry for all of the caps in this. It was easier to do a cut and past from one of the memos I had.

Again, as with everything I am sure this is not set in stone, you can argue for other equipment, but this is the list that has been sent out.

RB has been listed on the material I have recieved and discussions I have been in. My guess is the radio is no different, and may be a way of inventory control?

RB Models

Post by larrybl »

The difference between "Standard" and "RB"

RB = 800 MHz only
RB = Does not support Channel Anouncement
RB = More expensive to upgrade to Full Feature (requires new PA deck to support 700-800)

Would you consider making this a Knowledge Base article so we can move the sticky to there? I would work on shifting the messages from one topic to the other one, so the conversation travels with it.
