MSF 5000 RX Squelch

Post by n3ssl »

All:
Have 900 MHZ MSF 5000 and recently swapped the SSCB board (TLN 3189A) and has latest firmware.
The problem I have is the RX / RPT squelch is open even with RSS adjustments at MAX settings. This board reads and writes fine. Also looking for schematics for this.

The TLN3189A is, unfortunately, configured for a VHF station with 5 kHz bandwidth. The entire manual section for this SSCB is on-line.

900 MHz stations are 2.5 kHz bandwidth.

There is not enough high-frequency (squelch) noise coming out of the 900 MHz RF Tray to activate any of the squelch circuits. It's possible to change about two dozen components to deal with the narrower bandwidth, but none of the HearClear circuitry, utilized on the 900 MHz band only, is present on that SSCB either.

You can draw your own conclusions.

Bob,

that make sence now. the big part is to look for a 900 mhz SSCB. as mine is in need of the 5 v supply needed caps replaced.
