800 MHz MCS2000 as a 900 MHz Repeater Receiver?

Post by ayaresr »

Hi All,

I know folks use the 800 MHz Maxtracs as repeater receivers at 902 MHz. I'm wondering if anyone has ever attempted to do the same with an 800 MHz MCS2000. I couldn't turn anything up when searching the Internet. The price of these radios is certainly right. Obviously the CPS band limits would need to be hex edited. I already have experience doing that for the 900 MHz radios and for the S split UHF units to bring them down into the 440 MHz ham band, so I don't see having a problem if that's all that is required.

I'm in the process of setting up a repeater here and due to time constraints was hoping to come across something easily converted.

Thanks in advance!

I seriously doubt you can get an MCS VCO to do that.
Why not just use a Maxtrac?
Cheap and easy.
