Linked Capacity Plus

Post by Forts »

Just reading some of the PR info about the new LCP. How does this differ from Connect Plus? Sounds like the same basic premise, multi-site wide area trunking... I must be missing something .....

It only works on XPR8400s with the larger RAM, and its $3k per repeater for starters....

Yes, pricey. You do get a price break if you've already paid for the standard Capacity Plus option in the repeater(s).

If you are going to put together a large system, buy the switch instead.

Depends...compared to Astro25 multi-site & Connect Plus, it's still a bargain. Compared to Kenwood NexEdge multi-site trunking, it's quite a bit more expensive, and contains only the barest of feature sets in comparison.

IMO, one of the best things about LCP is that it makes IP Site Connect much more flexible, as you can now determine local/wide area transmissions by talkgroup, not just slot based, and light up sites selectively.

Just wanted to throw this out there this is intended to help small business get into multi site trunking even at 3,000 per repeater it is a fraction of the cost of connect plus trunking you dont have the features of connect plus BUT with this system you wont spend as much on the front end to get 3 to 5 sites going and if you get lucky enough to fill all of the sites with customers ROLL it into connect plus then I think that the connect plus controller for each site is 15-20K then if you have existing customers you have to add an option board to each unit THEN buy the option for each subscriber it is just alot up front if your not sure you can make it pay with the economy the way it is now we are looking for the lowest cost possible to get started on something like this..the system supports everything that capacity plus offers . BUT it does NOT have all the features that connect plus does BUT its not intended to connect plus is more robust there is no doubt. but if your a small business and you have 3 to 5 towers that do really well and you have customers that hate changing channels and having multiple base stations at dispatch this is the solution for you to give nextel a run for their money. we have a 3 site system in memphis right now that gives us 150Mile foot print and if we load the system to capacity we will wither add another system OR convert everyone to Connect Plus trunking but by going with LCP we got our coverage without having a huge front end investment WE LOVE IT!
