XPR4350 connected to L3276 Tone remote

Post by johnny1225 »

I have a MC2500 deskset that is connected via phone line to a other remote location that is connected to a L3276 Tone remote and a XPR4350 control base. My question is when using a Radio XPR6350 to talk to MC2500 it sounds very good. But when i use handset or internal mic from the MC2500 to talk back to the radio it is very very muffled and sound like a robot sound. Any sugguestions of where the problem could lie...........

You might try disabling "AGC" and adjusting the mic gain up on the XPR4350. You might also try disabling "Noise Supressor"(won't see that setting unless it's running a later firmware version)

I second TreyH's suggestion for turning off AGC, and will also say that following the L3276 tone remote adaptor TX alignment procedure with a radio in analog mode set for 12.5KHz bandwidth is paramount to having the setup sound decent after switching to digital. I'm assuming you only have analog test equipment...most of us do. Even after that, I find turning the gain down in the XPR radio will make things sound better in digital...you need very little drive for audio in digital mode as compared to analog. I find -3db to -6db to be a good range in the XPR after doing a full alignment in analog at 0db.
